I ran the Declaration Dash 5K in Wilmington, NC yesterday. My time was decent (26.48) despite high humidity and heat. Unfortunately, the race organizers did not mark the course well, so there were many who took wrong turns. I ended up with probably 10-15 seconds extra on my time because a water stop appeared to be a turning spot. This was incorrect, there was one cone in the corner that you were supposed to circle, so I had to go back and run around it. I am happy I ran the race to get some heat practice in case Disneyland is hot on Sept. 3rd, but would not run that race again due to the poor organization. They did have great treats at the end though and I did win my age category!
