Good luck everyone! If you need motivation for your race, pretend you're running to get your taxes back! ;)

Ran the Pawz to Run 10k in Davidson , NC this morning..there was also a 5k.

I realized I have never run a 10k...have done a marathon, a few halfs, a couple 15 and 8K's and some 5k's.

In a nut shell: Placed first in the 50+ women's with a 52:34 ( a PR, haha). Goal was under a hour. First half is downhill and yes, second half uphill.

More: It was a beautiful morning...clear and 45. There were 56 runners in the 10k and I don't know how many 5k runners, not many more. My DH and I had biked the course earlier this week using the map from race website and made several wrong turns, but this morning, they had plenty of people and signs out to direct us. First mile is downhill and people were flying then a small hill. That knocked the wind out of some sails and i started picking off runners. I don't get to do that so it was a lot of fun for me. Then back to downhill and not one past me going down. It was a loop with an out and back in the middle for the 10k runners. I hoped to see other runner once I made the turn and did, but feared the "big" hill" around mile 4.7 and told myself I would walk it, which I did and no one past me. Now just slight uphill home....
I'm still excited to have done that well and the award was a $20 gift card to a local sports store...didn't see that coming. The race was well run.

Davidson is a quaint college town. There was an amazing farmer's market this morning with tons of fresh food. There are also some nice restaurants and we ate breakfast, oh so good, after the awards.

Congrats Joan!!!

I ran the More Magazine Half Marathon today. It's a nice race. Lots of support. Nice women. Very hilly course in Central Park. I PRed this race last year and was hoping to beat that. The starting temp was 60F and the finishing temperature into the 70s. I don't do heat well! when you're comfortable pre-start wearing a tank top and shorts, it's too warm for me...
I missed my PR by less than 2 min which is understandable considering it was 10+ degrees cooler last year. I ran a good race and was happy with it. time was 2:38:24 :thumbsup2

Congrats to both Joan and Amanda! :thumbsup2

I ran a very hilly 10K race on Sunday and eeked out a 36 second PR. It was a good experience -- and showed me I need to do more hill training. :rotfl2:

My full race report can be read on my blog.

Hope everyone has a great week! Run Happy!

I ran the Dash 4 Diabetes in West Chester, PA Saturday afternoon.

It was my second race ever - and I PRed by 54 seconds with a 35:24.

I ran my fastest mile ever - the first mile split was 10:01.

The big thing was that I did all this while running in 75 degree temperatures for the first time ever... it definitely made a difference. As a new runner, I need to get myself used to running in the early morning as the weather starts to really warm up.
