:jumping1: GO! WISH Team GO! :jumping1:

I no longer remember who, but I remember trading posts some weeks ago with someone on the WISH Boards about the 10 for Texas race coming up this weekend. I'll be wearing my WISH visor if you see me, please say "Hi".

:cheer2: :cheer2: :yay:  GO WISHers!! Burn some asphalt!! :yay: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Everyone have tons of fun this weekend!!!!!

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:GO TEAM!!!!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

BIG VIC!!! just want to toss out a  your way for keeping up our calender and cheer threads!

Good luck everyone, especially you guys doing the RFTT.

I have a 5K on the 10th through a cemetery in Akron. It is pretty cool, I did it last year. It is called the Jack-O-Lantern Jog if anyone in the area is interested in an early Halloween run.

Frank? Is that a day time or evening 5k? Sorry can't make it, not close enough :( Have tons of fun which is striking me as an odd thing to say in regards to a jog thru a cemetary. :lmao:

My Ten for Texas Race Report:
Weather: Cool, Overcast, Comfortable...Perfect
Course: Fast, well maintained, extremely well patrolled by medical and police crews
Aid Stations: Every 2 miles, plus mile 9 all were well-stocked

This event is one of the best run events I run, and I am fortunate that it starts about 3 miles from my house. It is always well organized, well supported and well run. The local community always bends over backwards to support the event. Plus there is a great after event party, today I got pastries from Panera Bread, a cheeseburger from Culver's Custard (no frozen custard, though), breakfast tacos from Taco Cabana, and a few other items.
Since my recovering hamstring was flaring up Friday, I was a bit concerned and it was just a bit tight early before the race. However, I told myself that I would not push too hard and would drop out if anything flared up. I started out fine and ran confortably through the first few miles crossing the 5 mile point around 1:01:30, since A) I was feeling good and B) I wanted to go under 2 hours, I picked up the pace a bit for the final 5 miles. In the end I finished in 1:57:58, with a 5+ minute negative split and a new 10 mile PR (not too hard to PR when it is only my second 10 mile event and I run a decent bit faster now compared to 2 years ago). Best of all, however, is that I did not aggravate the hamstring and am now tampering towards the Longhorn Half Ironman on October 25. An added bonus is that I won a door prize (the only prize I am going to win ) I got 3 tickets to the Champions Club at the Administaff Small Business Classic Golf Tournament next weekend...too bad I am not a golf fan...ironically, the tickets are worth a lot more than the pair of running shoes I'd have rather won , maybe I can work out a deal somewhere next week.

Have a brilliant weekend of racer everyone! WISHing you all lots of luck and enjoyment

Richard that sounds like a perfect race- very pleased to read your hamstring was ok and you even managed to pick up pace which is awesome! Enjoy your well deserved snacks and taper time!

It was me! I am just seeing your post now (day after the race) but I didn't see anyone with a WISH visor.

Hope you enjoyed the race - the weather sure cooperated, didn't it?

I'll let others spam the details, but for me the RFTT was a PR by 24 seconds! Must have been the hat! :yay:

The Last Race for The Taste 10k was...

1.Warm
2.Sweaty
3.Drippy
4.Wet
5.Squishy (the sweat running down into your socks and shoes)
6.Fun with all the WISHers, You all rock!! I heard Syko and Matt towards the finish line, whooo hooo!!!!!!!:thumbsup2
7.like fishing as I reeled in and caught a bunch of you WISHers (haha, you know who you are and you know I love you!)
8.harmful as I slung my pinky pistols all over the place hitting unsuspecting racers.
9.AWESOME as I entered the Stunt Show Stage area and the Univerisity of Miami Fight Song Started and I sang along!! M...I...A...M...I...M.I.AMI, Fight, Fight, Fight!!! It made my day.
10.Curious as I forgot to change the Pause feature of Garmi. So when I stopped to use the restroom it paused. So I don't really know what my time is. Will have to wait until tomorrow.

Had a great time and as usual it was all over way too fast!!!

Until the next race....

Race was better than anticipated as I was sick on Wed. and Thurs. and off on Fri.

Official outcome 37:33, 1st 20-24 Age Group, 5th Female, 55th overall (out of over 400 participants). Has me wondering what my time would have been had I been healthy (personally I'm guessing about a 36:30 or 36 flat). It also keeps me on track for my marathon goal.

Splits were not as even as I'd like at 7, 7:30, 7:30, 7:45, 7:45. In my defense the only hill in the race was very steep and for the last 1/2 mile to the finish. Oh and it was run in two states. Part was in Lousiana and part was in Mississippi.

Race for the Taste was awesome, shaved 4 mins and 22 secs off of my time from last year!! It was HOT HOT HOT (and I live here) so that may be the reason for the faster time, I wanted to finish as soon as possible!! Great meet at the Boardwalk on Saturday afternoon and thanks to all the Wishers for cheering me on, I needed it! I am posting some pictures over on the Super Goofs thread if anyone is interested. 12 days till the Tower of Terror 13K and my bonus medal, can't wait!!

There were quite a few people there, so I can understand your not seeing me. I wear the visor occasionally while I train so you can always feel free to say "Hi" and introduce yourself if you see me around the area, and yes, the weather was about perfect.

Well done team WISH, be proud of your medals. You deserve it!

It is a morning race now but it used to be an evening race. Last year was the first year I was able to do it so I never ran it at night.
