I just wanted to take a minute and report from my race this past weekend. I wish I could have joined the large group at TOT but there was no way I could so I decided to test myself to see how my marathon training was going.
I chose the Silver Comet Trail Half Marathon in Atlanta. It is a flat and scenic course in the Atlanta suburb of Mableton. The weather could have not bee better for the race. The start was at 7:45 and it was about 45 degrees. By the end of the race it had only gotten to about 58 degrees so the weather was fantastic.
Personally I felt great and that was a problem because I went out to fast. I went through the first mile at 8:16 which was o.k. but then the next three miles I was under 8 minutes and that was going to lead to trouble later on. Well, to make a long story short I held on to finish at 1:57:06 (average 8:55). I was hoping for under 2 so I accomplished my goal but just not the way I had planed. Next time I will pay better attention to my garmin and hold my pace better.
