Race for the Taste?

BTW, a friend looked up the Komen on their website and it only mentioned one in St. Pete on the 6th.

I've done the Komen race the last three years. It always gets posted later - no idea why! Last year was the 10th anniversary for Central Florida Komen, and it was a huge success. I'm sure it will be the same weekend again this year. I would be shocked if they changed anything. I'm just curious which park we will run through this time! :goodvibes

Anyway I can get rid of the moniker "Earning My Ears?" Rather degrading...

If you click on User CP, then "Edit Profile" there should be an option for a "custom user title". You can put in what you want. I'm not sure how many posts you need before you can do this, though. Hope that helps! ;)

First, I have to confess. For the past several days, I've been reading many of the posts on these threads to gather information about the WDW marathon events. I owe each of you a BIG thanks :goodvibes for helping me to make my decision.

My daughter and I have just registered for the Race for the Taste. We're both excited and a little nervous. We've never participated in a race/walk in the past, and we felt the RFTT was a good starting point. It's also the only race event that doesn't conflict with school.

At this point, I only registered for the event. I didn't buy the park tickets because I'm hoping to purchase a package including tickets, lodging and possibly dining. What are your experiences with Anthony Travel? Did you find them to be a good value? ... more convenient for event transportation purposes?

I couldn't be happier that I've discovered a group of people that love Disney as much we do!

Welcome DreamBeliever!!! We live Local so I have never done any packages but I am sure someone here will be able to guide you better!!!

DH just saw this RFTT and he is quite interested in doing it and who an I to argue about another trip to the world.

I can't seem to find what finishers get?? Is there a medal?? Bibs??? Shirts????

Also I can't find what time the race ends and do you have to do the restaurant challenge??

Sorry for all the questions but this one is confusing me.

Any info would be great.

Kim

Believe it or not, we got APRONS!! :teeth: There was no t-shirt. I thought it was rather fun but DH wasn't impressed.

You do have a bib with your number (you always get a bib) but no medal. Oh wait! We also received a measuring spoon!! :rotfl:

I don't remember a "restaurant challenge" so I cannot speak to that.

Hope this helps!

2006 was the first year with a medal, still no Tshirt, just a lunchbox. you don't have to do the restaurant challenge. It seems to be for people who work in a restaurant.

I can't remember what the start time was but there was a 15 min pace.

Hello,

We are almost positive it started at 7, (maybe 6:30 :confused3 - definately no earlier) As Mel said we got medals, OUR FIRST ever. But no t-shirt!!! Maybe this year???!!

DO IT!!!!! :cool1:

Angie

Here is a pic I took from the WDW marathon expo of the medal which I plan to get in oct:yay:

Thanks for picture!

That's going to the be the first medal my DD and I receive! I realize the RFTT is several months away, but I'm already anxious to be there. :cool1:

By the way ... are we able to purchase W.I.S.H. t-shirts for the RFTT? I'm new to these boards and we would love to proudly wear the t-shirt.

I hope these questions havent been asked and I jusgt can find the answers but here it goes.

What is the route for the Race for the Taste..also start and finish.

Is there any transportation to the start and finish???

Also sorry 1 more. If you register with Epcot ticket...is it only good for the race day and can you stay all day or is it only for a limited time????

Thanks
Kim

Hello

The race route starts at WWS takes you through MGM over to the boardwalk, in the back end of Epcot and through the countries for the last mile out to Epcot parking lot for finish!!

The only transportation provided to the start is from the host hotel, through Anthony Travel. We drove to WWS and there was a bus (for anyone) from the finish at Epcot to our car at WWS. I also know they did the opposite. You could drive to finish at Epcot and had busses to take you to start at WWS.

About the ticket I don't know the answer to that one but it's a good question!! If you email them they can probably tell you.

Hope this helps

Angie

I have a copy of the map on my website. The cours from MGM to the finish is the last few miles of the marathon.

According to Disney's site:

New in 2007: Disney's Race for the Taste 10K is offering a package which includes race registration and a Theme Park Ticket for you to enjoy the Epcot® International Food and Wine Festival. Your friends and family can join in your post-race celebration at the Food and Wine Festival by purchasing additional Theme Park tickets at a special price. Tickets are valid for one day only and are good only at Epcot® or Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park (tickets is not a Park Hopper®). Tickets will be picked up at packet pick-up.

Theme Park Ticket Information
Tickets are valid only on the specific dates of the event and for a limited period of time after the event. Each day this ticket is used at Epcot® or Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park constitutes one full day of use. Advance purchase is required for all special ticket offers listed above. Ticket types, entitlements and prices subject to change without notice. Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable. Parking is not included.

Thank you for the info.

I will decide soon if I am doing this run. We want to go to Disney for the Food and Wine and MNSSHP so we might go around the time to do the run.

Hi fellow RFFTers,

For those interested ~ there is a DIS meet on Friday, October 5 for the MNSSHP. Because we're doing the RFFT on Sunday, my DD and thought it would be fun to go to the MNSSHP on Friday and meet other DISers.

Have a great week!

Oh bummer we will miss that one we are going to the MNSSHP on the 9th.

Hope to see you at the race.

Kim

Hi Robert,

In case you didn't receive my pm, MNSSHP means Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. It's a special halloween event held certain nights in Sept/Oct in Magic Kingdom.

We've never been to this event and we're really looking forward to it.

That sounds so cool! Would love to be part of this but, even tho DD and I arrive on Oct 5th, we don't land until around 5pm so not sure if it's feasible...
