YAY!!! :cool1:I am signing up for the 10K as soon as I get some $$$ (annual pass up for renual as well) Do you know if the 3K is a family race ie. if strollers are allowed? some friends want to do it with me but only if they can take a stroller in like they could in the princess 5k

See you all there :cheer2:

Thanks Robert! I'm kinda bummed that the 10K and 3K are going on at the same time. I will be signing up for the 10K but wanted to also do the 3K with my DD. I don't think she is ready for a 10K yet. Oh well I guess I'll just keep that $$.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering if this race ever reaches capacity and closes.

Also, do you have to purchase your park tix the same time that you register or can you go back and do that later? Are the tix park hopper tix or do you have to pick one park that you want to go to? If you ran in the race do you get a discount at the food stations inside the park too?

Sorry so many questions. I'm just excited about this race!

Not sure about park tickets as we never have to buy them.

Last year I don't think the race reached capacity. The girl I ran with signed up 2 days before at the expo and had no problem.

Can someone who has registered tell me what the prices are for the multi-day tickets? Not the post-race party tickets, not the one-day ticket, but the multi-day tix available at a discount after you register. I remember they were at a significant discount with the EEChallenge last fall, but can't remember what exactly the prices were.

I'm wondering this as well... hopefully someone can help out :)

Here's what's on the site. Prices don't include tax. Also: "These specially priced theme park tickets must be purchased in advance, (we suggest two weeks prior to your groups departure date) and are valid for 14 days from the first time of use. Tickets expire on December 31, 2009." (Sorry the format stinks)

The biggest discount seems to be on short to mid-length passes. There isn't any discount, it seems, on 8-10 day passes.

Base / Park hopper or Water Park / Both
1-Day $49.76 $62.91 $75.11
2-Day $98.59 $111.73 $123.93
3-Day $136.15 $149.29 $161.49
4-Day $168.07 $181.22 $193.42

I finally made a decision and registered for this race. We're moving away from Central Florida in August, so we'll actually have to stay in a hotel for this one. (We live in Celebration and that was very convenient for running the Royal Family 5k last year.) I'm going to book a room as soon as we have a money before all the All-Star Sports rooms sell out.

I know that a pint glass is part of the package, but will there be RFTT shirts for sale that I can buy at the expo? I hate to do a race with no shirt. :)

They did have had shirts for sale at last years race.

Just signed up for the 3K yesterday! :cool1: This will be my first ever event! Now if I can only do 15 mph pace (I'm currently a little over 18, bad knee, too much weight.) I'm going to start working on that though. Anybody know how much of a stickler they are for pacing on the 3K event?

The husband and I decided that for the little bit of extra money, it was worth it to stay at CBR instead of AS Sports. (I am looking forward to poolside drinks!) I called and booked the room this morning - very quick and easy through the group reservations number!

At Disney this weekend, I spoke to a CM who has done RFTT several times. She told me about the route and said it was a really fun race. Now I just need to get my training in order...

I just saw that the ToT run was a 16 minute pace cuz it was more of a fun run... will they do something similar for the 3K?? Will there be sweepers?

OK I e-mailed my questions to the race organizers and here is their reply:

The 15 minute pacing requirement is for the 3k and 10k. There will be sweepers on both courses enforcing the pacing the requirements.

ToT is the rare sub 1/2 marathon that allows a pace slower than 15 min mile.

Suzanne, I hear you about the 3K conflicting with the 10K. I really want to do the 10K again (especially since there's a new medal for it this year!), but I'll be "single parenting" that weekend and just can't leave the kids alone while I race the longer distance. DD (9) and DS (6) are jazzed up to do the 3K and run through Epcot, however, so I guess that's the one I'll register for instead. It should be fun to help them train. I'm thinking of a 2:1 run/walk ratio for them to start with, but that's not set in stone. (They did great when we ran/walked from the Studios to Epcot earlier this month, so I'm pretty confident they can handle the distance.)

Sasmmb, good luck with your training. You should have plenty of time to prepare if you start now and proceed with caution. When I first started, I did a run/walk every other day. All of those rest days kept me from burning out too quickly and, as I later read, your body actually needs time off in order to heal, so it seemed to be a good strategy. Also, don't freak out about your pace when you're first starting out. I used to really beat myself up if I averaged slower than 15-minute miles, but I got there eventually and so can you! Congrats on taking steps toward a healthier lifestyle! :cheer2:

Thanks for the encouragement Ksoehrlein! I've been on the treadmill or walking about 2 or 3 days a week and have seen my pace improve. Running is not an option for me beyond about 10 steps due to nagging knee injury/surgeries. Right now I'm at just under a 17 minute mile.

It sounds like you're being very smart about your training. I have to admit, I misread your post and thought you were a little over 18 years old rather than a little over an 18-minute-mile pace. Then I read your signature line about when and where you were married, and the lightbulb finally went off for me. Now I get it! Congrats on shaving off a full minute since the last time you posted!

Keep in mind that the sweepers usually wait for the last person to cross the start line and then follow the back of the pack at a 15-minute-mile pace. (Unless they treat the shorter distance races differently?) Now, I'm not suggesting you start in the very front of the pack -- those speed demons would mow you down! -- but if you start about 75% to 80% of the way toward the back, that will buy you a few seconds before that last person crosses the line behind you.
