Not at FW, but my uncle lives 45 mins away and got a call at midnight once because his neighbor had finally bagged the wild pig that had been digging up his yard for months (he was sitting on the roof stalking him with his gun) and needed help dressing it.

We have a lot of wild pigs around our property also. I have seen all the normal Florida wildlife....I even once saw a FL panther. I have to say the strangest thing I ever saw is when we had a ton of rain and there was a lot of water on the road.....I saw something crossing the road that wasn't quite snake looking....upon closer examination it was a walking cat fish! I didn't even know such a thing existed until then. I don't know why I expected it to be any diffrent at FW. I can't wait to visit! One thing I know we have that I do not want to see are scorpions!
We just moved and recently discovered new neighbours - 2 racoons living up a tree at the back of the yard. Funnily enough, 3 boys and a 80lbs Lab made them rethink their living arrangements.
The only wildlife we've encountered at FtW is a bird nesting in our camping chairs! Boy, was she mad when we moved the nest upon leaving!!
Ya know...in all the years I've been going to FtW, I have never seen a raccoon. I've seen:
Roosters
Peacocks
Armadillos
Turkeys (both free ranging and wild in a bottle)
Bobcats
Deer
Lots & lots of rabbits
Even more squirrels
Owls
Hawks
Blue Jays
Cardinals
Red Headed Woodpeckers
Egrets
Herons
Ducks
Snakes
Ants
Mosquitos
Gnats
Sand Fleas
Vast numbers of campers drinking beer & driving golf carts Otters
Gators (both in the water & the hopeless ones wandering around in t-shirts embellished with some cartoon character named Al)
But I cannot remember a single raccoon! Now that is something that makes me go Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
We're at Turkey Lake and heard Brownie whimpering outside (yes, he was outside laying in the dirt and wouldn't come in!) so I went outside and he was just sitting there whimpering......at the racoon that was eating his dog food!
You would think a big 'hunerd somethin' pound dog would get a racoon out of his food bowl by himself but no, he just whimpered. The moment the racoon came toward me however, Brownie puffed up like a blowfish and let loose the deep down growl and Mr. Coony decided he was done eating.
We also saw two squirrels playing "chase me around the tree a million times" this morning.
And last but not least.....we saw the inside of CentraCare Urgent Care Clinic waiting room all this morning followed by sitting in the camper watching the thunderstorms for the rest of the day.

The pop up came through like a champ! Pelting rain and windy but we were warm and dry inside. When I got done at CentraCare, I dropped off the scripts at Walgreens, walked next door and rented some DVDs, walked next door to that and picked up a pizza. So the day wasn't a total loss. Movies and pizza in a warm, dry camper trumps cold and wet in Magic Kingdom any day.
The molar I broke and had repaired before we left so we wouldn't get down here and have to go to urgent care .....decided to abscess so we could get down here and go to urgent care AND be in pain and have to take nasty, horrifying Clindamycin
I am officially jinxed.
Brownie the wonder dog has been laying next to me, sniffing my jaw and licking it awwwww. Tomorrow will be better!!! It has to be! Doesn't it?
(Snicker) it's already better. Brownie decided to entertain us all this morning and refuse to eat unless we fed him from a spoon. DD is now feeding him with a spoon and he is sitting there like a little portrait eating his dog food.......from a spoon LMAO!
