just thought id warn all you rabbit owners to a little disease id never heard of today. (flystrike) had a fantic phone call from sister asking me to take her childrens beloved rabbit to vets. he had maggots all in stomach.
bob was happily bouncing around house and garden as he does ever day yesturday. i even stroked him myself. he is like one of the family. his hutch is opened on morning and he is put to sleep at night. if he not asleep in the sun on their patio he is in the living room watching tv.
this evening my sister noticed bob was still under the bush where he had spent most of the day and went to pick him up. he was all floppy and hardly breathing. she screamed for husband who discovered that he had theses maggots under his belly and by legs. they wrapped him in towel and we race him to vets. we was told straight away that it was flystrike. i wont go into massive detail as i will provide a link. please read this disease it can kill your childrens rabbit in 24hours.
