Quit your day job for Disney?

I think I have the best of both worlds. I work from my home doing nice things for people visiting WDW. I get to experience their excitment preparing for their vacations. I get to shop Disney on a regular basis and visit the hotels and theme parks regularly. It's wonderful.

I would love to work at one of the children's clubs! DH is looking into a promotion in Clermont, so it is a possibility!

Feralpeg - that sounds like a nice balance!

you're lucky mj, my wife is too afraid of the hurricanes to move to Florida. :(
We will be there in two years when my DD(16) is out of high school. Can't wait, TWO MORE YEARS!!!!!

I do daycare in my home now, I would love to do the ground maintance. I love to garden, and cut the grass. Doing it as WDW would be wonderful. I would be in my favorite place and doing what I love too. :flower3:

I agree with floridagrrrl....I was on the boat from OKW to DTD and I started thinking..."Wow! What a great job!"

I also would love to go to culinary school and maybe get a job at one of their restaurants!

I can see myself serving Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian's Garden View Lounge. It's one of my favourite things to go to on all my trips.

Every time we watch the SpectroMagic parade I tell my husband "There's us!" I want us to be Chip & Dale playing the piano in our electric tuxedos! :love2: He always says "Yea, we'll move down here, you'll get your dream job and I wind up driving one of the stinking busses all day long!" :rotfl2:

I too daydream about moving from up north to Florida. I've always said that I want to work at Disney sometime in my life. When people ask me what I would want to do there I usually say I don't care - anything. But I remember a really nice gift shop in the GF. I think I'd like to be a clerk there helping people pick out souveniers from their trip.

i had a great disney job working for the phone system. gave it up for my dream job of being a nurse. i regret it to this day. someday i am going back to my new dream job of working at disney again.

I guess I'm another one who wouldn't want to work there - unless it was something like an imagineer job, but those don't really open up anyways. To me, I like going to Disney as my vacation, and I like not knowing how things are going on behind the scenes. I'd think that by working there, it would eventually just become a job, and not an escape from my everyday life. I also don't think I could make it through the summer's down there, especially if I was working outside.

I would want to work in one of the resorts. I have always been facinated with resorts, hotels, etc. I would work the front desk and try to move my way up. I was going to take a class in hotel management, but I never did. I should look into that. If working in travel (especially Disney) has always been my dream, why do I work in an emergency roadside assistance call center??

I suspect the "idea" of working for Disney is a lot sexier than actually working for Disney. I love the idea, but the reality would come up way short of what I require in a job. But if someone just wanted to work there for the heck of it, regardless of pay or benefits, it might be doable.

My financial planner is setting it up. only 13 more years, and hopefully me dream comes true!!! Thats not too long!

I think that's what a lot of people would have to do (and some do, I'm sure!). Disney doesn't pay enough for the lower lever jobs to make a living, unless a spouse provides a signifigant second income, or you've semi-retired.

I think that is what I'd like to do. Retire to Orlando and get a job at WDW. I think I would get bored living down there and just going every day as a guest. I think it would be a lot more fun to be a CM, once you take away the worry that $6 an hour isn't going to cover my rent if they cut my shifts back from 5 a week to 4...

I would idealy like to work at MK doing anything except food service or retail. Second up would be working at one of the resorts for front desk. But really I'd work at any of the parks, not just MK.

DisneyHoneyMoon, It's funny that you should say this. I am about to begin my 4th year of dental school (next week) and I can't even count the number of times that I wanted to quit during my first two years. All I wanted to do was go and work for disney somewhere. I'm glad that I got through those two years... and life is much easier now (only 5 finals in 5 days this semester, much better than the 14 finals in 10 days that we used to do.)
The thing that I now look forward to most is next year... when I can travel to WDW 3-4 times a year if I so choose!!! I really can't wait!!! Good Luck!

P.S. If I did work at WDW, I think I would like driving one of the boats between Epcot & MGM, or maybe a bartender at ESPN. Or maybe a safari driver. Ok, I think I would have doing just about any job there.

I recently got my Real Estate license,so I would LOVE to get a job being a DVC guide. I actually saw a position open for it on the Disney careers site, but you have to have 3 years exp. So in 3 years I will be watching that site like a mad man.

Ooh never thought about that, I could do that but I would rather work with the plants and landscape.

I'd like to work outside, seeing the people, in the parks. I think I'd like to sell from the pushcarts or sweep up. Sounds very unglamorous, but I could watch everyone, like I love to do, and be outside, and walk around a bit maybe. I'd have to be retired though, as otherwise I couldn't afford such a job.
