Quietest Resort other than AKL?

Hi Everyone,

I'm one of these people who really enjoys the magic and overall hustle and bustle of the parks but then wants to go back to a quiet place to relax. LOVE LOVE LOVE AKL, but we take my in-laws and our niece and nephewwith us, and they would like to try a new resort for our next trip (they loved AKL, too-- just looking for variety).

So, DIS experts, which resorts do you feel are the most quiet and realaxing? We usually do Deluxe resorts, but Mods could work if anyone has a good suggestion.

Thanks much,
Sara

I've never been myself, but in all my searching I've heard that POR is pretty quiet. It was recommended to me as a good honeymoon site since it doesn't have tons of kids and is meant to be kind of quaint. Maybe that will work for you.

We just got back Friday from our first trip to CSR. We stayed in Ranchos section in the back and it was extremely quiet...almost spooky. Along with our vehicle there were only two more in our parking lot the whole time. The first time we saw anyone else going into their room (in our bldg) was the day we were leaving. Twice we were the only ones on the bus and we had a bus stop right outside our building (7a) which was great. We loved it!

We've stayed at GF many times and I would say it is quiet. We usually stay in Boca Chica. Particularly with a lagoon view room, it would be nice and quiet except for the Water Parade and the sound of the WDW Train - not too bad, huh? It's a great resort!

I have stayed at POR and highly recommend it! :)
It is quiet and we stay in building 14 wich is quite close to the foodcourt.

I would agree with the others that POR and POFQ are both very nice for moderate resorts and very quiet and out of the way of all the traffic. For a deluxe resort, I also think WL (along with your former "lodge" experience) is also very secluded and quiet. WL also has a nice boat ride over to MK that makes it convenient.

The courtyards of the Boardwalk Inn are always quiet when I stroll through. A woods view (over the otter pond) at WL would be pretty quiet too.

I agree that POR always seems to be nice and quiet except for the boats going by on the river that are a bit moisey.
Once you get back into the courtyards of all of the Moderates it can get pretty quiet. My room in the Ranchos at CSR was very quiet.

You have received great advice so far!

One resort which we really like (We like them all for different reasons) is OKW. Beautiful landscaping, several pools, usually very serene, ample bus stops and a variety of accomodations.

We feel OKW is a very nice blend of a subdued resort experience without losing the DISNEY magic!

Good Luck! ;)

I stayed in the Ranchos section of the CSR in 2002 and it was very quiet. It was very peaceful in the morning and made for a romantic stroll in the evening. Trinidad South at the CBR is also very quiet. I stayed there in 1999 and was not bothered by noise at any point during my stay.

If you loved AKL I'd stick with a deluxe for your upcoming trip. POR is very nice but it's still a moderate, no balconies or interior hallways & no closets in the rooms(just a bar). While we enjoyed the POR I don't think compares to a deluxe for those reasons.

As far as quiet deluxe resorts- WL is right next to *it all* but still very peaceful and quiet. Plus you get the water parade at night and a wide variety of recreational activities. The boat service to MK and the CR is also very nice.

DEFINITELY the WL!! I loved my stay there because while it is close enough to the monorail resorts and MK (and definitely full of the Disney magic- I mean, look at the theming), it also feels so quiet and secluded. You definitely feel immersed in the atmosphere when you are there! I would also suggest the GF for its Victorian beaty, although I don't think any other Disney resorts can beat the AKL and WL in terms of secludedness.

We like the courtyard view at the WL, but the woods view would be more peaceful.

Coronado Springs is usually fairly quiet. Port Orleans and Caribbean Beach may also be quiet at times, however, you should watch out for large groups (ie: cheerleaders) when they come down.

One resort that I might add, is Old Key West. It's DVC, but you can always rent points, or book it through Disney. That place is very peaceful. One of my favorite places to drive through. :)

Just back from the WL one week ago........wishing I was still there! We had no idea what to expect and it was better than I imagined. When you walk out to the boat dock you see nothing but trees and water. It's so peaceful and reminded me of our lake vacations. Even though the contemporary is next to it, it's hidden by the trees. Not until you actually take the boat ride out do you see any other buildings. Definitely a place to visit to get away from it all!

Have you thought about the cabins at Ft. Wilderness? They are very quiet and secluded. We have tried different resorts, but FTW is our favorite hands down. In fact we like the quiet, privacy, and seclusion so much that I don't think we will try any more resorts. For us FTW is the BEST!!!

When we stayed at CSR, I did not think it was quiet. There wasn't really any traffic noise, but the exterior walkways caused a lot of noise We would often hear kids running and screaming down the walkways (yes, this was before we had a child, but I can't believe they were up so late!). But the worst part was the noisy wheels on the mousekeeping cart rolling by early in the morning!
