What onsite resorts tend to be quieter, less crazy, less crowds? I know it is WDW so crowds are to be expected. What resorts are more relaxing and still offer Disney magic but also are a break from the craziness of the parks?

We have stayed at all the moderates plus Animal Kingdom Lodge. AKL was by far more relaxing than any of the moderates, and still had plenty of magic. In my opinion, the Port Orleans resorts are the most relaxing of the moderates possibly due to their smaller size.

I prefer Old Key West. The pools are not packed, the small counter service is not to busy so small wait. Sitting on your balcony/porch is nice and surprisingly quite.

Coronado is a nice quiet resort. Its really big and spread out, so its not over crowded at all. We stayed there when my parents went with us because I thought they would like a 'break' from some of the loud kids etc. We all loved it! We are going back in November without my parents...and are staying at Coronado again!

Wilderness Lodge!!! Hands down the most relaxing resort. The music that plays through there and on the buses, it is wonderful! :goodvibes

I second this. I absolutely love OKW and how peaceful it is. I always tell people that I can leave the parks are really feel like I'm getting away from it all when I go there. The theme is wonderful, the staff is attentive and the property is quiet. It's a bit of a breath of fresh air when I leave the parks to head back to my resort when I stay there. The boat to DTD is also so nice since we like to go there at night and we don't have to stand in line for the buses.

We have stayed at okw, ssr, wl, po,and bc. Plus we have visited all of the other disney resorts for meals or just poking around. Okw, ssr and wl are more relaxing and slower paced. Gf, cr, bc, yc. bw are more active. Csr and cbr are also slower paced. I thought po was in between.

I've stayed at most of the resorts and OKW would also get my top vote.

Runners up would include: 2. AKV 3. SSR 4. AKL and 5. GF

Someone mentioned Port Orleans, but I would like to second specifically about POFQ. It's so small that it is just naturally quieter. OKW is another fabulous suggestion.

"Quieter, less crazy" defines Old Key West. Its away from it all, but not so far that it takes a while to get anyplace. Very relaxing.

Another choice might be Fort Wilderness Cabins.

you can't have quiet and close to the parks.

OKW, SSR and AKL/V - can quiet - now something close to the parks and quiet would be VWL or BCV

that say nothing is quiet if you have noisey neighbors or close to pool or close to bus stops (except SSR - it is far enough away from these things) but a noisey neighbors is always a problem.

you can move if a neighbor is noisey - that is the only choice.

AKL and POFQ have been the quietest of the resorts that I have stayed at so far. I love them both. I'd like to try OKW sometime soon for the same reasons. It's nice having somewhere a little more relaxing to come back to after a busy day at the parks.

Yep:thumbsup2

I could sit in the WL lobby all day (with a glass of wine) long and be content.

Another vote for POFQ! It's the smallest resort on property, and it's laid out very well so it's incredibly quiet and mellow. We swear by it if we're staying mod. The atmosphere of NOLA combined with the riverfront can't be beat!

I would say from past experiences that YC is quiet and less crazy, but gives you the option to be in the middle of the action when you feel like it.

The lobby and surrounding gardens are very peaceful and relaxing but when you want the excitement and action just stroll over to the pool, BC, boardwalk or Epoct.

It's the best of both worlds!!:thumbsup2

I second POFQ. We found it extremely quiet and relaxing.

Out of the ones we've stayed at, Coronado Springs was probably the quietest, calmest resort we've stayed at.

I think that both Port Orleans resorts are nice and quiet. AKL and the Polynesian are good too. I have to stay at a quiet place!
