Quiet September in the parks

Always interesting to walk the parks just after mid-September. Food and Wine buildout just getting started, summer tourists gone, weather change detected by those of us who live in a temperate climate.

Quiet and relaxed. Cast members are exhaling, very few kids. Those who are there are gathered and confident.

A guy who owns his image has a future. Sometimes places that can be real mob scenes are spread empty before you.

When the crowds leave, detail reveals in the space and calm.

The firehouse has become headquarters for MK's new interactive game (Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom), based on the uberhit Kim Possible Epcot format. Epcot now has a Phineas and Ferb 'Agent P' theme for its game. Introduced last February, but I've been out.

Construction going on everywhere. Huge building going up next to the Grand Floridian, Fantasyland is almost done, and the F&W food kiosks are getting polished. Nice clouds over Beast's castle. Maybe WED is still art directing.

The bartenders at the Tune-In continue to be the best,

and the Disney Art store always has something fun to ponder.

Are Japanese girls 22-44 traveling in pairs a thing? I saw dozens having a great time. They seemed especially interested in Character interaction, which is easy this time of year.

BTW, has anybody ever figured out the Pluto/Goofy thing? Ostensibly the same species, but one is the slavering pet of a sentient rodent, the other a courageous if somewhat dim adventurer. Yet they hang out together, no apparent caste issues. Awkward.

This will all be over as soon as the rope drops on Food and Wine, but for now it's kinda cool. Worth a stroll if you're in the neighborhood.

Nice pictures. We go in September every year, usually the third or fourth week of September. This year we will be there the fourth week of September which includes the opening weekend of Food and Wine. We enjoy the crowd levels and are able to do so much more things. Opening weekend of Food and Wine is busy but not as crazy as you would think.

September is my favorite time of year to visit the World. Low crowds and the weather gets nicer. Its much better for a local like myself :goodvibes

I was there 10-13 and I found myself getting mad if I was waiting more than 20 minutes! I couldn't get over how low the lines were. Glad to see I wasn't the only one that noticed the Asian girls. I feel like normally I see groups of 5 or 6, but there were a lot of pairs.

I've been in September before, but never the first weekend. The last time I saw it as dead as it was last weekend was when the first two weeks in December used to be a de facto locals only time in the late '80s and early '90s.

Can you elaborate a little more on "southwest Florida?" I'm in Cape Coral, myself, and sometimes it seems like I can't find anyone with whom to carpool to WDW.

North shore of the Caloosahatchee, across from the alleged downtown of Fort Myers. My legal base, but haven't been around much lately. Send a PM when you're headed up, first round's on me.
