Hi,
We leave for Disney this Sat...hurray. I am going with DH and our 3 daughters, twins who are 6 and our 3 and a half year old. On Friday we will be in the MK for the day. My husband HAS TO take a business call around 1pm, can anyone suggest a quiet spot for him to do a call while i keep the girls busy (shouldn't be too hard ;) )?
TIA,
SSS

Um, generally quiet, or "no one can hear the sound of a child's voice in the background" quiet? If he needs the second type, he might be out of luck.

My best spot is always the waiting area of the Hall of Presidents. I go there if I get hit with a migraine and need to be in a dark quiet place. The show has lost popularity in recent years, and kids tend to avoid it if they can -- however, it is possible that a crying toddler will end up in the room.

The walkway from toon town to tomorrow land is a great, quiet, little known place. There are benches and stuff all along the walk. Also a great place to go for a picnic lunch.

Honestly, if your cell phone has good reception, any off-the-path location is probably fine.

We travel to WDW often and it's almost inevitable that my DH will end up on a call for work - usually at least once a day! While he usually won't answer the phone while we're in a ride, there are plenty of nooks and crannies around the park to get out of the hustle-bustle and have a phone conversation.

Something you could do is plan for lunch around that time. Eat at Columbia Harbor House upstairs - there are tables in the bridge over the walkway and that area is usually quiet. Your DH can have his call, and you and the kids can eat and peoplewatch. If it goes long, you're right between Fantasy Land (IaSW, Peter Pan) and Liberty Square (HoM, Haunted Mansion) - take the kids on a ride and come back for DH later. :thumbsup2

I remember hearing thre is a place behind city hall with benches and topiaries(sp) What about the museum at the front of the park? It was quiet when we were in there. :)

Good Luck

I'm wondering how about Tom Sawyer Island? You and the girls could be busy exploring and I think there are areas away from the buildings/dock that just have benches and/or picnic tables. You do have to take a raft over there and back, but we've been there when the island is practically deserted. Just a thought.

As a former business traveller with a lot of conference calls, my first place to think of was the ToonTown/Tomorrowland path. Upstairs at the Harbor House is another.

At the entrance to Liberty Square, there is an odd little garden off to the right (I think) or maybe the left - tucked in behind the buildings before you even get to the Christmas Shop or that place that used to sell the good ice cream sandwiches. They use that area for Princess Meet and Greets, but when the characters aren't there - really quiet. There are also some tables tucked into the old restaurant space (the old Terangoa Terrace) - just as you enter Adventureland on the right (before the Dole Whips).

What about the theater in Tomorrowland - the one that's tucked back by the Carousel of Progress. That would be really quiet if a show isn't going on. Diamond Horseshoe would probably echo too much due to the wood floors.

If you wanted to leave the MK for a minute, what about the walk path to the Contemporary - under the monorail track. Midday - that would be pretty empty.

I always end up having to do business calls on our trips. If you really need quiet, I suggest going to one of the resorts -- Contemporary, Grand Floridian, or Polynesian. You can usually find a quiet spot for a phone call. While the walkway from Toon Town to Tomorrow land is usually empty, if a train goes by, your cover is blown. The other thing is to use a mute button as much as possible when you don't have to talk. It makes it much better for the other participants.

Thank-you for this post. My dh will also need to take the odd conference call while we're there (don't you love the Blackberry? Now your dh is always working, even on vacation!)
