Hey all! DH and I decided a few months back to spend a weekend at the world with the new QSDP. We originally did the dining plan back in Sept 07, then again in Jan 08 and Sept 08. After that we decided we missed the included apps and have been doing short(ish) trips with the deluxe dining plan. But we were starting to miss some of our favorite QS places so decided to try out this option. Here is my take on it (DH) might chime in.

We arrived at Coronado Springs after driving up Friday after work. Got our mugs and a fill-up on those but didn't eat as we went to City Walk for dinner and a show.

Saturday - Breakfast in the room then headed to Epcot for Flower & Garden.

First up: Snacks at French Bakery. I got the Napoleon (as I usually do) and DH got the Raspberry Schuss. Both were great. The total was around $9

Next: Lunch at Yakitori House. I was really looking forward to this as it's one of my favorites. But this time I was quite disappointed. I had the teriyaki chicken. The sauce was good and the rice was good (of course) but the chicken had been cooked so long it was dry and hard and then put in the sauce. Also, the ginger cake I remember loving tasted off... like it had some kind of filmy undertaste to it. I probably won't be back here for awhile :( DH got the chicken as well (and I believe he agreed with it being dry) but also had the beef as a combo. Not sure what he thought about that. The total was around $30

We left about Midday to swim and then headed to dinner at Pepper Market. We used our mugs for our drinks here. I ended up with the chicken sandwich and fries. This was very tasty and the mushrooms were delicious. DH got the ribeye with veggies and fries. I believe he liked it. Only bad part here was I had to eat alone as he was waiting for his steak to be done. Then we each got cake for dessert (he had chocolate and I had german chocolate). These were good, not great. We got 2 waters to go as our included drink. The total was $56, and I'm assuming included the 10% surcharge as we weren't asked to pay this. I would never have paid this much OOP, even though the food was good. The experience itself was also kind of a hassle.

Sunday - Breakfast in the room then headed to MK for the day.

Lunch at Cosmic Ray's - I had the chicken sandwich and fries with carrot cake and drink. I think mine was $15. DH had a burger (double bacon? Maybe?) with chips and drink. I'm guessing his total was similar so around $30. We decided to go here because we recently discovered the hot cheese for the fries - yum! Also, we like Sonny Eclipse. A lot. My food was good... the cakes here are also just ok but I was glad I got the carrot cake.

Snack at Aloha Isle - I got a citrus swirl for the first time - really good. DH got the dole float but with the orange ice cream on top. Total was maybe $8? Not sure, I was sitting down while DH got the food but that sounds about right

Appetizer at Planet Hollywood - We headed downtown and went here to use our $15 voucher. Last time we got the zucchini chips which were delicious and I was all set to try again but then we decided on the Parmesan Spinach dip. This was also delicious. Total for 2 soft drinks and the dip after voucher was like $.56. So around $4 with tip.

Dinner at Wolfgang Puck Express (Marketplace). Love this place for something other than chicken strips/burgers. DH got the mac and cheese with chicken added on, caesar salad, frozen yogurt, and drink. I got the mashed potatoes (oh yeah it came with rosemary chicken), frozen yogurt, and drink. The potatoes were awesome! The chicken was good but I find those half chickens to be difficult to eat. The skin was super salty (but I like salt). DH's mac & cheese was also very good... he said his salad was just OK though because it was a bit wilted. Total here was $45, plus we left a few bucks tip (are you supposed to?)

Snacks at Goofy's to go. We got 2 pieces of fudge, a toffee slab, and a chocolate covered smores to use up our remaining credits. It was $16. Haven't eaten any yet.

So all in all we spent $127 and got $239 "worth" (in Disney terms) of food. We got to try Pepper Market which we probably wouldn't have not on the plan. It was a fun thing to do and the 47% savings was great. We're going back to deluxe on the next few trips but might try this again at some point!

Thanks for the QSDP review. We are debating this for a future trip.

CSR seems to be a good place to use the QSDP! And WOW! Your Wolfgang Puck bill was high! What a good deal on the plan.

I'd recommend it! It was lots of fun and I love the mug and snacks.

Yeah I'm not sure why WPE was so high! I know it was like $3 to add on the chicken and DH was happy he could do this as just mac & cheese doesn't really feel like a full dinner. Plus I guess desserts at like 4ish and drinks really adds up!

Maggie

you had great value from the plan :thumbsup2

Yup! :)

Thanks for the review! I just booked the CSR for a 3 day trip with the QSP and I was debating it...I had trouble finding any reviews!!

Thanks for the review. I wish more people would review their QSDP choices - so it's great to see!
