Quickest way to get from WL to France...

In our upcoming trip we are going to try the Cubs Den (kids club) at WL for the first time. DH really wants to have dinner at Bistro de Paris in France, so we have a PS there at 6:15 pm. What is the fastest/best way to get from WL to France and back?

The Cubs Den is $10/hour per kid, so I am thinking that paying for a taxi might actually be cheaper than waiting for the bus. When we stayed at WL two years ago, sometimes we got really lucky and the bus arrived just as we walked up, and other times we waited about 20 minutes. The bus also usually went to GF before going to Epcot.

If a taxi is the best way to go, do we take it to the main entrance, or should we take it to BC and walk through the international gateway to France?

We are staying on the concierge level, should I ask them to coordinate a taxi, or are there always taxis out front just waiting?

Thanks in advance!

I can't help with your specific question re: WL-Epcot, but we used taxis a lot in March when we stayed at the Swan and there were always taxis waiting outside, if not, just tell the bellman/porter and one wil come around. We found taxis to be an incredible time saver (and worry saver) and well worth the occasional cost.

Quickest way from WL to France? Well, I guess you'd need to taxi to McCoy and now that there is no more Concorde, fly regualar jet direct from McCoy to DeGualle in Paris. It'll be a long flight so perhaps you'll want to spring for first class! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I would take a cab to either Beach Club or Boardwalk & walk into the International Gateway - It'll put you right by France. We have always found cabs/towncars a fantastic convienence for dining at night.
It'll be very simple to get back to WL, just go back to BC or BW & take a cab back, there are usually cabs anfd towncars waiting at the deluxe resorts, but if not, a bellman can call one for you.

If you don't mind a couple extra dollars, you can pre-arrange a towncar thru Tiffany for the trip & then you will have it there when you are ready to go with no worries about possibly having to call for a cab.

I would guess you would go to the boat to the monirail to Epcot. I'm not really sure but that seems like the best route.

cab to beach club...walk through international gateway...france right there...

If the taxi is in your budget, I would definitelly go with that to BC or BWI and walk to the International Gateway.

If not, allow extra time for the bus. Read something somewhere that WDW would be initiating resort-to-resort bus service, but don't know if it happened. If so, you could do the bus to BC or BWI.

It's a long walk from the monorail station or bus bay at the EPCOT entrance to the World Showcase!

It is a long walk from the entrance of Epcot to France. However, on our last trip, I had the bright idea to take a cab after Illuminations. We left through the International Gateway and walked to BC. There were no taxis waiting and the bellman seemed very surprised to see the four of us at 9:30 pm (maybe it was 9:45, DS walks very slow when he's tired). We had to wait for about 15 minutes for a taxi to show up. DH was really annoyed with me because he figured we didn't save any time, and it cost us $$ also.

MichiganMommy - If your DH is impatient on waiting for cabs, I'd arrange for a Towncar. You can plan what time to be picked up from WL & again from BC. If I recall, it's only about a $10 difference than cabbing it.

How exactly do you do this? We want to have an early PS at the Princess Breakfast in Norway in July, but I think if we have to walk all that way, my DD and DS will be hot and tired before we even get there! The towncar sounds like a great idea! Mind if I ask approx how much it would cost from WL to BC so we could just walk over? We would just stay over in Epcot after, so we wouldn't need it to go back to WL. Thanks for the help (and the great idea!) :cool1:

If I was you I would go this way. That's how we do it and it's worked out fine.

:rotfl2: Peter Pirate I thought it was a good one :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

If the taxi is in the budget I'd definitely take one from WL to the Beach Club and walk to the International Gateway. France is the first country to your right after you enter...so that would be rather quick.

Or you could use the kids' club at one of the Epcot area resorts...then you wouldn't have to pay for child care during your travel time.

(Hey, how do you guys get those fancy quotes boxes from other posters? I did a copy/paste, but I just get the text.)

Anyhow, this seems like a lot of transfers (and potential waiting) to me. Wait for boat, ride boat, wait for resort monrail, ride to TTC, wait for Epcot monorail, hike from main entrance to France.

Using an Epcot area kids club is a good idea. I'll have to think about that. Then again, it'll add to the peaceful evening to just have the kids at our hotel and do the traveling without playing "I Spy", dots, hangman and tic-tac-toe the whole time!

PeterPirate... It was funny! :rotfl2:

A cab from WL to BC is about $13 without tip. I believe a round trip towncar is $40 thru Tiffany. Just call Tiffany Towncars & ask them their rate. I haven't used that service in a year or so, but I wouldn't think the rates have changed too much if at all.

bus to MGM or AK; bus to BC?

dont the buses go from MK directly to the resorts?

(we need to do this the day we switch from WL to BCV)

Yes they do go from MK to any of the resorts, just look for the resort you want and wait for the bus there.

Try clicking on the "Quote" button in the lower right corner of the post you wish to "Quote" ;)
