We are trying to decide whether to rent a car from Budget or hire a towncar service to drive us from the port to the airport to make a 12:25 flight.

We are most likely going to rent from Budget to get to the port but are concerned due to shuttle times, time taken to return the car (where is the drop off at the airport?) that we might not have enough time to make our flight. I am pretty sure renting a car is cheaper but making our flight is more important.

I know you guys will have the answers for me. Thanks in advance.

I am wondering about this too. How much would a towncar cost? What about the DCL bus service? There will be 3 needing a ride to the airport, how much does a one way DCL shuttle ticket cost?

A one-way DCL transfer from the ship to the airport or to WDW is $25.00 per person.

Budget dropoff is located right at the airport (it is not offsite) and very convenient to drop the car back off.

IF you do go with Budget...as soon as you get off the ship either call for a cab (bring a list of cab companies numbers with you) or wait for the shuttle...depending on how many people need the budget shuttle that day the wait can be long and hot....

Sometimes it is easier to get a spot on the shuttle if one person goes on the shuttle and picks up the car and then drives back to the port and picks the rest of you up.

It can depend on the number of people in your party. If you can get everyone including your luggage in a town car I think that is your best bet.

Renting from Budget is not a bad option, but from what I have seen I don't care for the process. After getting through customs you take your luggage over to the Budget pickup area and wait in line. Once your turn comes around you have to load up and get to the local Budget rental center (3 or 4 miles away) where you offload your luggage.

Once you get there you have to stand in line again to get your car and paperwork. Now you "schlep" your luggage to the rental car and load it up again. Now you drive the 50 or so miles until you have to drop off the car at Budget at the airport

OR

You take your luggage to the waiting town car, the driver loads your luggage and you relax while he/she drives you to the airport.

The cost differential maybe $40 or $50 but after a fun-filled cruise you don't necessarily want to get all aggravated. You are already disappointed you had to leave the ship.

I'm with Buddy Bear. Do the towncar. NO hassles, NO worries. Just sit down and enjoy the ride.
