Hi ... we will be at OKW at the end of the month for 3 nights. We have never stayed at OKW, so we are wondered what is the quickest way from OKW to Epcot / MGM / Pleasure Island? Does OKW have boat transportation or is it all bus? Should I request to stay near the HH? Will this help with transportation? We have alot we would like to do in a short amount of time. Thanks for your help. :)

Bus is the only way to Epcot and MGM. There is a boat to DTD and a walk way to there also.

If you request HH area, you might have more noise and less parking and you will be the last bus stop. We usually request South Point because it is the second bus stop and has a nice quiet pool and is very near the walkway to DTD.

It is bus service to everywhere. In addition to the bus, there is a boat (Trumbo Ferry) that will take you to DD -- the dock is near the Rainforest Cafe. This is usually not faster but is very pleasant.

Being near HH will not necessarily speed things up for you.

We always request Turtle Pond, but once we ended up in Building 13, right across the parking lot from HH. We were pleasantly surprised that we didn't notice the noise at all. The view from our porch over the water and golf course was just as tranquil as at Turtle Pond.

OTOH the parking was a horror every time

dianeschlicht: Can you walk to DTD? If so, how long would it take. OKW is all new to us! I am used to VWL. Thanks! :)

ps. We will not have a car so we don't need to worry about parking but I hate noise, so that could be a problem!

hi mkkim

we own at VWL, but have visited OKW on 2 trips. Wonderful place. We were near south point on one visit and did get bus noise from the bus stop...but it was not terrible. on our second trip, we were near turtle pond. A road was behind our building (? community drive?) so we got a lot of traffic noise. At first, this upset us and we considered asking for a switch to another building. But we soon acclimated and did not really notice the noise anymore. It really wasn't too bad.

For both trips, we rented a car...but we only used it for a couple dinners at other resorts and for pool hopping. We relied on buses for the parks and the trumbo ferry for DTD. We were quite pleased with the transportation at OKW, despite reading horror stories about it here and worrying that it would not be adequate.

You may not want to request a specific area. They all have advantages and disadvantages. Sometimes it is fun to see what you get and experience it. You might find an unexpected suprise. If something does turn out to be bad, and you can't deal with it, i am certain Disney will make it right! Just a suggestion.

The walk to DTD takes about 10-12 minutes from the South Point area. It is a nice leisurley stroll along the canal and take much less time than the ferry. The down side is that it is not lit at night, so it is quite dark.

Caskbill - Thanks so much for the cool link! I've marked it for future reference. Excellent!

Thank you all for your suggestions. This is our 10th Anniver. so even though it's a short trip, I am trying to make it as special as possible. Your input has been very helpful!

:)
