The Cast:
Me (April)- 21. Certified Disney nut. I've been to the World 6 times and while I wasn't a nut to start I've become one over the years.
DBF (Bob)- 27. He lived in Florida until he was 12 and went to the World once. When he was 1. Which means it was pre-Epcot and he doesn't remember a thing. This also makes him a NEWBIE! which excites me to no end.
The Dates- September 26-29th???
The Hotel- ???
The Reason- To make up for my miserable trip in May.
Now let the planning begin. Today, exactly 1 month, 2 weeks, and 6 days before the trip is to happen, DBF and I agree we'd go. See here's the thing, back in May we decided we'd take a small weekend trip somewhere during the summer. He was no help so I determined we'd wait until his week off in September and we'd go to Florida to visit his mother. Eventually it evolved into half the week with his mom and the other half in Disney. And eventually we realized we couldn't afford it so the Disney part wasn't going to happen. Then we decided to wait until March to go. All was fine and going well and when the 2008 rates were released yesterday I immediately checked and told DBF. We discussed it some more this morning and realized there was no way we could afford to go to Disney in March and Las Vegas for our wedding next October. We were both disappointed and he insisted he wanted to go to Disney still. So I reminded him I still have my AP and there are rates available for the time we'll be there so it'd be cheaper. I just wish we'd have realized this before the ticket prices went up. It could have saved us a few bucks at least.
What does this all mean? I have 6 weeks to plan a trip to My Happy Place. DBF has no opinion about anything. He laughed when he dropped me home this morning and I said I had to go play with my spreadsheets. Because of his lack of caring I told him he was now forced to do whatever I said. Even if it meant sitting through Beauty and the Beast 4 times in a row. (It wouldn't but the threat was still there.)
Do you know what waiting until 6 weeks before a trip means? It means that most of the AP discounted rooms are taken and as per the nice gentleman Burl I talked to all value and moderate resorts had no availability for our dates. Online I could get ASSports but I'm holding out hope something opens up. By changing the dates to the first half of our week in Florida I did find CBR available. Unfortunately I can't make any decisions until I talk to DBF and he's currently sleeping.
If we do go at the beginning of the week instead of the end, we'll be flying from Newark to Orlando on Continental instead of driving. We'd only have to rent a car for the second half of the week in order to visit his mother in Ocala. So as you can see there are a lot of What if's, Buts, and Maybe's involved in this planning and it's being left completely upto me. The girl who freaks out easily and I can't guarantee DBF won't be dead before we go.
So stay tuned to find out where we're staying, eating, and how the HECK we're getting to Disney.
