What: Trip Report
Who: Myself, GF, GF’s daughter (13) and GF’s son (4 ½)
Where: All Star Music and Magic Kingdom
When: January 29th and 30th, 2005
Why: You have to ask?

Left Tampa area on Saturday morning at 9:30 and arrived at the All Star Music resort about 1-1/2 hours later. No traffic on I-4, woohoo! Checked in but our room wasn’t ready, no surprise there. We parked the truck and grabbed a bus to the Magic Kingdom. Ok, you have the two free tickets from our DVC add-on, right? No, you have them. No, I don’t, you took them after our New Year’s trip, remember? D’oh!

So, after standing in the ticket line for ½ an hour I bought two one day, one park tickets. I didn’t realize that Florida residents receive a 10% discount everyday. Bonus! Tickets in hand and a double wide stroller because it was sitting by the entrance and a cast member said to take it, we headed on over to Fantasyland. First stop, Stitches Great Escape. Hmmm, GF’s son likes Stitch, he should be able to handle it. Oops, guess not. Suffice to say, he was quite unhappy about that ride. He wasn’t the only small child to get upset and that venue still hasn’t had a decent ride/attraction in it.

Ok, time for a quick Buzz fix to settle things down. After kicking everyone’s butt, yes I’m a big bully, it was time for some dogs from Caseys. GF’s son loved the music and actually turned out to be quite the music aficionado throughout the day.

The rest of the day at MK was tons of fun. Carousel of Progress was running, although to very, very small attendance. I love that attraction and hope it never goes to live with Mr. Toad. Goofy’s Barnstormer was good enough for two rides and so was the TTA, although I still like to call it the Peoplemover.

Stayed to watch Wishes and then headed out to catch our bus back to ASMusic. Here is where I became a DVC snob, lol. I enjoy all of Disney’s resorts but we can’t help but compare them to the DVC resorts. I know, they’re not comparable, but man, the All Star’s are sooooo much noisier than the DVC resorts. How can so many toilets flush at all hours of the night? And what’s with the stiletto heels clicking by at the wee hours of the morning? Ah, well, it was only one night. Next time we take a weekend trip it might have to be at one of the moderates or we’ll just spend the obnoxiously high points for a DVC resort.

Here’s a friendly tip from your Uncle Duke. When pushing a stroller with two kids in it, don’t try to be funny and kick up the front wheels by pushing down on the handle. The first two times were fun. The third ended with the stroller on it’s back, a bottle of chocolate milk rolling away and one embarrassed adult. Oh, well, no harm, no foul.

See ya.
