Just a quick note to say "thanks" again to disboards! As always the advise on the boards made our trip "easy"!
We went to Universal for the first time on 6/4. It was me (45), dh (59), dd13 & dd12. We opted to stay offsite because of $$ (I'm all about getting the best deals without having to sacrifice) and, more importantly, SPACE!! My daughters are at that age of hiding their bodies and small rooms won't do! We got a great deal on a direct flight so our travel took just a little under two hours!
I am not a fan of renting vehicles so we had a driver recommended on disboards, Tony, pick us up. He charged $90 round trip which included a stop at Publix. Tony then took us to Floridays resort which was wonderful!!! From there for transport, we relied on the resort's free shuttle service and the occasional cab.
I purchased $7 day/ 2 park passes 4 years ago for $99 each... Great deal! We opted not to hit the parks until Thursday so our first full day was just hanging out at the pool.... Until the tropical storm came our way!!! For thursday we had booked RPR for 1 night to get the 2 day fast pass (thx again... Best ...thing....ever!). The tropical storm was in full force Thurs. so we attempted to move our reservation over (booked through Travelocity with a discount code). RPR offered to fully refund our $$! We took that deal but then made a new reservation for Friday. Weather was perfect... Well, HOT but not raining! We checked in and got our express passes and off we went! W
We rode everything that we wanted to.... Loved Spider-Man and Hulk! Really enjoyed the water rides, the rock (?? Rip ride??) roller coaster, the dragons coaster. Enjoyed Despicable me and Disaster. Twister was...a bit scary!! Loved early entry to Harry Potter... That forbidden journey is awesome!!! I'm a huge HP fan!! We also were able to ride transformers while they did their final test runs... Walked right on, had a blast! Our 2nd day, when we had early entry, was great until it started pouring and it never let up! We had 2 more rides we wanted to return to but didn't get a chance with the express pass. The next day, without passes, dd's & I returned. Waited in two not so bad lines & called it quits because we didn't even want to wait that long ( 35 mins. For Hulk, 50 for Spider-Man) so we did those & decided we were ruined for life by the express passes... We may never be able to do disney again!
All in all... Fantastic vacation!
