Just a quick report (still here actually). This was a business trip with some free time for fun. I've been to WDW now 4 times in the last 13 months but it's still fun!
Hotel I stayed at the Swan. What a nice hotel. It was filled with us convention people but it was still relatively quiet. I loved the pool there -- for those of you who were here, I was the grown-up in the purple bathing suit going down the slide at the grotto Sunday afternoon around 3:00. You'd remember me because I displaced a LOT of water
The rooms were clean, the staff very friendly.
Food The conference provided much of our food but I did manage to sneak in some other dining experiences. Overall, they were all extremely loud even at 9 and 10 at night (which is when we were typically eating dinner). We couldn't carry on conversation at any of the restaurants due to the noise. I should note that I'm doing Weight Watchers and so I didn't get to eat some of the restaurant specialities but I was able to easily find something to eat everywhere we went.
We ate at Gullivers on Saturday night which was okay. They have characters there and even though it was close to closing time (we were seated at 9:25 pm) there were lots of people and kids still there. Our server was great -- I believe his name is David and he's from Ohio. Very nice and attentive. We had pizza and sandwiches and the food was good.
Sunday we ate lunch at Le Cellier. MMMMMMMM. Try the tomato stack appetizer -- it's wonderful! Our server, Rob, was from Nova Scotia and is terrific. For my entree I had a grilled chicken on mixed greens with bleu cheese and a pecan vinagrette. MMMMMM.
Dinner that night was at the Rainforest. I enjoyed my meal but my co-workers said some of theirs were so spiced that it was hard to taste the food. It's a chain...if you have one near you, you know how the food is.
Monday we ate dinner at Spoodles. It was yummy. I had a taste of the calamari with pepper relish (delish) and the flat bread (the chicken one) for my main course. The only disappointment at the whole table was the lamb skewers. Otherwise just great.
Parks
Went to EPCOT on Sunday -- I've never seen it so empty. Great fun though. Did everything and saw the Flower and Garden show. SOme of the displays were very impressive. Last night we went to MK -- we (the conference group) were the only group in the park. We were brought in through the back, entering in Frontierland to the left of Splash Mt. Got to ride Splash and BTM then off to Tomorrowland where we had a DJ and buffet and rode Space Mt (multiple times), Buzz, and TTA. Then to Main Street for the Spectromagic Parade and Fireworks. It was truly amazing to have the park so empty and have these treats performed just for us. Everyone had a front row seat for hte parade. WOOHOOO!!!!
Entertainment
JellyRolls, JellyRolls, and JellyRolls. We had the best time there!!! By the end we knew the bar staff and manager. What fun...I recommend it to everyone.
So there you have it...my quick business/fun trip.
