When arriving we usually stock up on supplies for our stay: Frozen pizzas waffles, Orange Juice, junk food that sort of thing. BCV actually has directions on a card they can give you to get to the closest Walmart. We went during the week last year but this last year we went in Mid-July on a Sunday night at 9:00pm. We thought most of local residents would be done with there shopping for the week.
Do not go on Sunday night to that Walmart. All of central Florida was there. It was brutal. The checkout lines were like the most popular rides in any of the parks. If you can go during the week mid day. That seems like the best time.

We usually go there at all hours of the day. Two years ago, there were 15 registers going at 2:00AM! I had a store director of Wal-Mart as a client back then and they said that it was the busiest WM. There really is no great time or day, it is always packed when we go.

The Walmart in Clermont is a bit further up the road (1/2 hour maybe?), but has always been peaceful on our trips... nice and clean too. I shop there as I'm familiar with the area.

Word of advice from my family who live in FL, natives do not shop during the hot summer hours. It makes it too hard to get back in the car they say  So, yes, you'll find the stores more crowded in the evenings no matter where you go.

I second the "Go to Clermont" comment.

After several nightmare episodes at the Kissimmee Wal-Mart, I discovered that the Clermont superstore beats it on all counts. We've used that store now for the past several visits.

Benefits?

1.) Newer
2.) Cleaner
3.) Better Neighborhood
4.) Less Traffic to the Store
5.) FAR Less Crowded

All that ... and the drive is only about 5 minutes longer than Kissimmee (in a complete opposite direction).

Here is the address. You get there out of the back exit from DisneyWorld (on 192). Look it up on Mapquest.

Wal-Mart Supercenter
550 Us Highway 27
Clermont, FL 34714

Thanks for the advise on Clermont. :goodvibes Next trip we will check it out.

Take US192 west until it ends at US27, bear right onto US27 heading north, go about one mile. Easy!

There is also a nice Public heading south on US27 from there, a couple of miles.

We have been using the Walmart on Vineland that is about 4-5 miles on the right if you take a right out of Hotel Plaza Blvd. It was never a problem and we did shop at 9 one night. The one in Clermont is also nice although further away since we have been staying at OKW and SSR lately.

the walmart at cagun's crossing (on 27) isn't much farther than kissimmee, depending on traffic on 192, and if you go off property on the west side, down sherberth road by animal kingdom. It can be really busy too though. There is a super target there also and a publix right there on 192 where black lake road comes out, that's probably closest. Just past the walmart at caguns crossing is a winn dixie and a sweet bay which is nicer. We used to go down to kissemme for walmarts and sams but it is always a pain with 192 traffic.

We've never had the opportunity to check out the Wal-Marts near WDW. Since we don't usually rent a car, we order from Garden Grocer and that works well for us.

I hope they keep the a/c at a better temp than our Wal-Marts here at home! Was there yesterday and it was about the same temp as outside (steamy!). Ugh!
