Quick Service Resort Hopping

Hi. We're heading to Copper Creek Villas in a couple weeks and was wondering if the policy requiring a dining reservation to get into another resort has changed? Given how early the parks close, we wanted to explore quick service at other resorts for some of our dinners. I recently read that people were getting into other resorts with their magic bands but seems to be a bit inconsistent. I realize we can take Disney transportation to other resorts, but from the WL that's not the most convenient. Any insight is appreciated!

I do not believe you can resort hop without a table service reservation.

I read the same, only an ADR gets you into another resort. So frustrating as visiting/dining/shopping at other resorts is part of our usual itinerary.

While I have heard that how is WDW enforcing that? Is every guest who steps into a resort have to pass through security and confirm they belong there via a hotel room or dining ADR? Are there guards at every entrance? It just seems ridiculous to enforce IMHO. Do they stop people who are just walking around the resort asking for their "papers" to make sure only that's resorts guests can do that? I just don't see that WDW would dedicate the necessary manpower to even remotely enforce this.

The quick service at the resorts are all mobile orders. They don’t let you in until your order is ready for pickup. If you want to use multiple Disney buses to get to Pop and eat chicken nuggets and fries or a bland burger you could do it since they aren’t checking the buses. Driving to resort gate might be different.

Yea that's a little too much for me. I recently read a post on one of the boards (may have been a DVC member) that a memo went out to the security gates at each resort that if someone was staying at a DVC resort they could go into another DVC resort. But does not sound like that was being consistently allowed. I guess I could just call Disney but I think they will say I need a dining res.

They're only enforcing it in terms of parking. You can't resort hop without an ADR if you're driving and want to park at the resort, but you can definitely visit and eat at other resorts.

Interesting. Thanks for that info. As we will be flying in and utilize WDW bus transportation for all of our travel needs (as we have done in the past) then we should be able to resort hop at our leisure if we desire to do so.

We stayed at BLT a few of weeks ago and were able to eat at multiple resort quick service and table service without issue. It was a little easier for us, because we could walk to MK to hop on a bus, or ride the monorail to Poly or GF. Also, we hopped on the skyliner when we were at Hollywood Studios and got dinner at Primo Piatto with no issues.

The key really seems to be that as long as you can walk to the resort or take Disney transportation there are no issues. The issues seem to come regarding needing a resort reservation or ADR when you arrive in a car - yours or Lyft/Uber/taxi.

You absolutely are welcome to visit any resort for a QS meal (or even just to wander around or shop!). You can use your app to mobile order at the QS.

If you are driving your own personal car, you may or may not be allowed to park. We have been able to park at the Contemporary 3x in the last 2 weeks for quick visits (shopping) without an issue. But that's not guaranteed.

If come by boat, monorail, bus, skyliner, or your feet, you'll have no issues at all - just like normal.

If you come through the security gate, they will give you a hard time without an ADR. They check your magicband for your ADR reservation and even make a comment if you arrive too early. I assume you will get even more comments or problems if it is just for QS order.

And in all honesty resort QS is not good right now, it’s all still in boxes and they don’t even let you in until your boxes are ready so it’s not like you can meander around. But if you really want to, I’d suggest going to these resorts via Disney transportation as you won’t need to go through security then.

Yup I was going to post the same thing. If you arrive ANYWAY except via the front security gate you can access any resort without issue.

what about if you uber?

Same issue as if you drove up yourself.

I took a Lyft back to my resort (Pop) twice and neither time was asked for my MB or anything, the driver just said he was dropping me off and we were waved right through both times, different people at the booth each time. Not sure whats typical though.

we visited captain cooks last week while staying at AKL we took monorail after or MK day then bus to disney springs to get back to AKL. worked great if you arrive by disney transportation you should have no issues.

We were there last month. We were staying at the Poly. I asked the guard at the Poly what the guidelines were for resort hopping. He didn’t really commit to an answer but he said if you drove up and had and ADR or a mobile order, they were supposed to let you in. We drove over to WL and told guard that we wanted to eat at Geyser Point. I told him we were staying at the Poly. He asked to see our ID and let us in. We didn’t have an ADR or place a mobile order. I think it is at the discretion of the guard.

If you resort hop via the monorail, how late does the resort monorail run with MK closing at 6pm? Could we take the monorail to the Grand Floridian after park close and still be able to ride it the CR after our dinner? Our trip is in early November.

The food situation is bad. We left Animal Kingdom Lodge because we had no food options. We went to Costco and bought food to eat. I also purchased a toaster for the room since the food court has none. I will not be back until the food situation changes. Good Luck!
