Quick Service Recommendations

Yes, Jolly Holiday is open year round. They have some nice sandwiches and soups. Royal Street Verandah has good gumbo. (Including a vegetarian version.) You can grab something from French Market for your son (mac and cheese?)

Thank you. I am updating my 'planning spreadsheet' with these suggestions. It's good to have ideas beforehand so we're not running around when we are there to find somewhere that has something we all like.

Sometimes I find the vegetarian options a bit lacking. I mean, there ARE loads of non-meat options, but they tend to skew towards carbs and fat, until you go into the more expensive places. Blue Bayou, Cafe Orleans both have salmon options if I recall (though I believe they're farmed, which is an issue for some people.) There are the fruit/veggie stands throughout the park.

Bengal Grill has nice veggie skewers as mentioned.

I *think* Pizza Press has moved, but it's a great offsite option, and one of our go-tos. There's also a Jamba Juice in DTDisney that we frequent.

P.S. - Is Jolly Holiday there all year round?

Rather than a reference to a Christmas or another specific "jolly holiday," the name of the restaurant is a salute to Mary Poppins. "It's a jolly holiday with Mary!"

I also love the Jolly Holday's soup and sandwich special: a deliciously gooey grilled cheese sandwich on thick toasty bread with a smooth and savory tomato soup. I had this for lunch on my trip this past March and it's now going on my "must have" list for future visits. It was yum buckets!

I agree that the meat/chicken skewers at Bengal BBQ tend to be dry. However, I just love their bacon/asparagus skewer so always go for that. And they have the veggie skewer.

Pizza Port doesn't have the greatest pizza IMO but DD13 always wants to go there. Maybe because the slices are so big. :) They do have decent salads.

I also like Pacific Wharf because there's such a large selection. I always get a salad; they have pretty good clam chowder and DH gets Mexican.

Hungry Bear also has a good salad and I'm pretty sure they have chicken nuggets or something similar because DD17 always wants to go there and that's about all she eats. They used to have an awesome fried green tomato sandwich but for some reason they took that off the menu and put it on the menu at the French Market (I think). I heard it was a little different but I haven't tried it there.

It is at Cafe Orleans. Or at least it was 2 weeks ago.

Are the fried green tomato sandwixhes any good. For a table service, am debating between Cafe Orleans and Carnation Cafe.
We haven't tried them, but other people have said they are great. We like the turkey sandwich and the Monte Cristo. I like the salad and the Pommes frites. My kids usually get the soup.

They were very good when they were at The Hungry Bear. I believe they are pretty similar, but we have yet to try Cafe Orleans, and when we do I think I'll be having a cheese Monte Cristo.

Though food prices in DLR are high, I have found the portions to be solid (and I like to eat).
A few of our favorite spots (4 kids, three are very picky):
The Golden Horseshoe: excellent chicken strips and good portions.
Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta: Kids love the pizza, I love the pasta. I'm full when I leave.
Red Wagon: The corndogs are as good as advertised. I never eat corn dogs outside of DLR
Carnation Cafe & Cafe Orleans. Excellent food and good portions. I can't eat a whole Monte Cristo.
Plaza Inn: The fried chicken is AMAZING and my wife loves the chicken alfredo pasta option.
Ariels Breakfast: My wife and girls rave about this experience and food portions.
Galatic Grill: for breakfast, it's underrated.
Flo's Diner: Excellent Dinner choice and breakfast choice.

Jolly Roger: also a great spot.

Thank you. This helps and I've noted the places mentioned and highlighted ones that seem more of interest or to our liking.
