Hello all. The fam (wife, son (4) and daughter (2)) and I are planning on heading down in the first week of May of 2010 so I decided to start my homework as I am told the 2010 dates open up sometime in August (is this true?). Anyway...I was originally going to skip the meal plan as I thought that you had to always do a sit down service and that's not what we're looking for on a daily basis...our kids would get too antsy. I did notice today though that they had a quick service meal plan and based on this year's prices it would be about $480 for us (wife, son and I) to have a plan for 8 days. So my questions to all of you pros out there...

1. Is it worth it? Are we saving money over buying a hamburger here and chicken fingers there? I'm not really sure of the going rate of food in the parks/resorts now so I don't know if its a decent price.
2. Must you pick from a limited menu or is pretty much everything open?
3. Also...must it be a breakfast and a lunch or dinner or can we use it for lunch and dinner everyday with an occasional breakfast for those days that we get a sit down meal? I was kinda confused by the policy. We also normally order from the online grocery store and eat cereal and granola bars in the room rather than waste time and money on breakfast.

Ok...I think that's about it for now. Hopefully WDW opens up the 2010 schedule soon.

I have not done the counter service plan, but I can tell you that it is a good deal. Especially if you do your homework ahead of time so that you know what is out there. Disney has some excelllent counter service restaurants. Harbour House & Cosmic Rays in MK, numerous places in the World Showcase & Sunshine Seasons in Epcot, Wolfgang Puck Express Downtown, FlameTree BBQ & Yak & Yet CS in Animal Kingdom to mention just a few. Plus, all of the resorts have CS places to eat.

You can take your meals however you like. Meal credits are loaded on your Key to the World card & deducted as you use them. You can use as many or as few as you choose on any given day. You have until midnight on the day you check out to use your credits. Also, some meals are very large, so if you want to split a meal to save credits, this is also a good use of your credits, & is perfectly acceptable to do so. Hope this helps.

We used the QSDP in June. We loved it! DH and I were always full. Each person on the plan gets 2 QS meals and 2 snacks per day, plus a resort refillable mug. There's no limit on the plan, you can pick whatever you like, and you can use your QS meal any way you like. If you want to use 6 one day, and none the next, it's your choice. We liked it a lot, and will use it again.
