quick service at animal kingdom lodge?

First off how long does it take to get from Animal Kingdom over to the Lodge? And is there any quick service there that is worth it? We don't really want Pizzafari or Flame Tree that day for lunch!

I don't know as if I would make a trip all the way to AKL just for CS. What about Restaurantsaurus (or however you spell it)? It's just your basic McDonald's food. There is also the new Yak and Yeti CS -- I think it's called Anandapur Local Cafe. What about that?

We just came back from a stay at AKL!

Bus ride is just about 5 minutes away. Buses tend to come by every 20 minutes.

Yes, there is a GREAT counter service place at AKL called MARA. It's located a little passed the pool area. It's got some great choices, such as flatbread pizza, hot and cold sandwiches, salad, burgers, desserts, best chicken fingers I've ever had! It's got a cold case of fresh packaged stuff too.

Nice break from the park-I think you are allowed to sit near the pool to eat if you want and you could check out the viewing areas of the animals that reside at this resort (there are quite a few of them!)...just remember you are not allowed to bring food into the viewing areas!

Ate at the CS place in AKL when we were checking out the resort, the fried shrimp were gummy and chewy, the zebra domes were just ok, I think they are way overrated.

The bus trip is 5 minutes. Mara is good w/a big selection. DH doesn't like any of the CS in AK, so we ate at AKL (Mara) instead for lunch. He said he preferred that more. We did try the Yak & Yeti CS at AK & it wasn't very good. Plus, you can then explore the resort & the animals. I think AKL has such a great atmosphere.

My DGF and I LOVE The Mara! They have this African Beef Bowl that is just out of this world! Of course, for those of you who want to stick to the basics, they have that too. And their pizza does not taste like the normal resort pizza! Also, you can buy the famous zebra domes there. Mmm mmm mmm!

They also have a delicious soup called chicken pepper pot. That's my favorite. They also have it ont he buffet at Boma.

If you are on the DDP can you get the zebra domes as your dessert with 1 credit? That would be awesome. I don't think we will do BOMA next time around but are planning a day to go tour the AKV.
