Quick Serve Dining Plan

We're trying out the quick serve dining plan. We've had the dining plan before, but since we're just making a quick hop over to Disney for 3 nights (2 days in the parks), we decided on the quick serve plan. We figured it would be perfect, as it would give us three quick serve meals a day after all was said and done. I was just wondering if anyone has done the quick serve dining plan before. If so, how was your experience? What did you think about the plan? etc. Thanks!

I have to point out that you said something incorrect. You get two quick service meals per day, not three on the QSDP. You do get 2 snack credits per day so you can easily use your refillable mug that comes with the QSDP for your coffee along with snack credits for breakfast as one of your meals bringing you up to 3 meals, but you don't get 3 meal credits per day each.

We've done it and quite enjoy it. We did have a lot of trouble using up all of our snack credits though since we pack breakfast foods for our room for the sake of speed in the morning. Take some time before your trip to look through some menus on wdwinfo.com and allears.net to make sure you find all the amazing different types of foods you can get at CS locations around WDW. If you don't do this you may end up eating all burgers and fries during your trip. We generally don't eat these at all at WDW because we take the time to find other foods ahead of time.

I've only used the quick service plan and it's worked out great for me. My sister and I did it in June and we shared meals every couple of hours and got to eat at a lot of places, especially in Epcot. We had a lot of snack credits left over, though, so we got breakfast pastries for our flights home and she got snacks for her little ones. I love getting the frozen banana treat as a snack credit, not to mention the frozen Cokes. You can also use the meal and snack credits at various Downtown Disney restaurants like Earl of Sandwich (yum!) and Cooke's (yum!).

I think she means that since they'll be there for 3 nights, but only 2 days, they'll have the extra 2 meals to use on the two days they'll actually be there.

You get 2 QS meal credits per NIGHT, not per day.

If you stay 3 nights you will have 6 meal credits per person to use.

I think she knows that. She means that because they will be there for only 2 days, not 3 days, they will be able to have 3 counter service meals for each of the two days they're there.

I did that last year and decided this year I will not be bringing anything for breakfast in the room. It does depend what you eat for breakfast but grabbing something the night before and keeping it in the fridge for breakfast the next morning sorted out the speed issue in the morning and helped burn some of the many (too many) credits. ;)

That's exactly our thinking. Thank you for the excellent idea of splitting meals at EPCOT so that we can try more things! The food is one of our favorite parts of EPCOT, so this is an awesome idea!

Also, thank you for your opinions about the meal plan! I'm really looking forward to the trip!

We're doing this plan for the first time next year, and I'm very excited about it. We did the regular dining plan this year, and it was WAY too much food, especially drinks and desserts. I'm planning on using most of my CS credits in Epcot also. There's a lot more choice there. ;) I think I'll try the splitting meals with hubby so we can eat more often and try more food! :thumbsup2

We're big on variety, but eat small portions (I eat 6-7 times a day), so splitting the meals and eating every couple of hours around EPCOT really worked for us. There are a lot of counter service restaurants that have very good food, too, so it's worth it. Another key thing is to get portable desserts (cookies, brownies, sturdy pastry, etc.) when possible. Eat the one that won't last (mousse, soft pastry, etc.) and carry the other one with you until you need a snack. There's a thread about snack credits (I haven't figured out how to link yet or I would include it here for you) where you can find lots of different snacks that are portable. Did I mention the frozen chocolate-covered banana? That's my favorite snack of all for the following reasons: i) it has the texture of ice-cream; ii) it's fruit; iii) when it thaws/melts, it's a banana, not a puddle of goo, so you can put it in your bag if it's too much or you have to get on a ride. I hope the dining plan works as well for you as it did for me!

The QSDP isn't less food. It's cheaper food. It can actually be more. You still get 2 meals and an extra snack. But, time consumption shouldn't be an issue like when there is a sit down restaurant involved.

We are leaving for FLA in less than 6 hours and we'll be arriving at POP on Monday. We will have the QSDP for the first time and I am looking forward to it! I didn't have to make one ADR this trip! :cool1: And I know we will have way too much food to eat. Between the 3 of us we'll have 42 meals and 42 snacks.! And we are going to DC one day so we'll be eating there.

Look for my TR and DR when we return. I like to take pictures of our food!;)

This will be our first year on the QSDP too. We did make some ADRs though...we didn't want to miss LTT before MNSSHP or Garden Grill, Hollywood and Vine...etc. We are paying OOP for those though. With 7 of us I'm really really looking forward to Epcots F&W Festival. Those snack credits are GREAT for trying all the different foods from the different country stands. My oldest is saving many of his for Goofy's toward the end of the trip....he wants to bring back candy LOL

I did the QS dining this year and it worked out great. We got plenty to eat and saved a lot of time by not having a sit down meal. Doing it again in October...can't wait.

Got back from WDW about 10 days ago and used the QSDP. It worked well for us. We had plenty to eat and saved time by not having one single ADR!

We shared some meals as well as sharing some of the "tastes" at F&W. We still had SC and CS to use up on our last day.

Back from WDW and the QSDP was awesome!! We used almost all of our snack credits at EPCOT for the food and wine festival! We ended up being so full from EPCOT that we couldn't eat our QS dinner that night (it was our last night) so we found some people at the hotel and 'bought' them dinner. The QSDP worked out well, and we enjoyed it! We'd definitely use it again!

I am just back from a trip and used the QSDP for the first time and LOVED it!!! I decided to try it to see what difference it made in the way I eat when I don't have to open my wallet everytime I wanted a meal or a snack. It worked great! I had a lot more variety to my meals (usually I end up getting a burger or nuggets because they are the cheapest option on the menu, not this time!) I also used snack credits at Food and Wine Fest, which was great. I did manage to use all my credits, especially when I found out that you can get fudge at the Main Street Confectionary for a snack credit!!:lovestruc I'm glad I didn't know that until the last day or I would have had 16 pieces of fudge to try to get home. All told, I will definately be using the plan for future trips. I don't know if I came out ahead or behind in money and I don't care. I FELT like I came out ahead because I wasn't constantly pulling cash out of my wallet and I actually found more variety than ever before.

So how many pieces of fudge does 1 snack credit get you?

We have booked a trip to WDW next Sept. We're staying at POP but upgraded to the regular DDP. The more I think about it the more I think I may go back down to the QSDP. We would still do 3 or 4 TS meals but if I pay for them OOP, I could eat the way I want to (appetizer, salad and dessert) rather than the way I 'have to'. Plus, I love the thought of all those snack credits, especially since we'll be there for the F&W Festival.

1 nice size piece of fudge. We picked up 6 pieces on our way to the airport at Goofy's Candy in DTD.

We had QSDP for the first time a few weeks ago (we were also at POP) and we really enjoyed it! No worrying about making, and keeping, ADRS. We didn't do one TS this trip! We were there for opening weekend of F&W and used some of our SC for F&W food. Was wonderful not having to think about what we wanted to pay for to sample! :cloud9:

Having used DDP 6 times now and QSDP once I can highly recommend QSDP.

We are going to Disney in April 2011 and have the dining plan (1 snack, 2 meals)? What is the best way to use these and not spend OOP money? Help? as this is the first time doing dining plan. Thanks.
