Hello, I've searched the forum but still need a bit of help.

My parents are taking my husband and I and our 4 kids to Disneyland this week and next, and my father would like a scooter for mobility. I see that it's less expensive to rent from an outside business. They say that they drop the scooter at your area hotel. So, how do you get the scooter from your hotel to the park? Sorry if this sounds clueless.

I have a teenage son in a wheelchair full time, but we don't use a lift or wheelchair van. Actually we've just rented a huge 15 passenger van and they leave the back seats out for the (manual) wheelchair, our stroller, etc.

Are the scooter companies assuming we will use our hotel shuttle to the park? Can these ECV's be accommodated by them? We hadn't planned on using the shuttles but I guess we could. We are staying at the Wyndham in Garden Grove, if that helps.

Thanks so much for any help!

I've only stayed close enough that I could just ride the scooter to the parks. I would call the hotel to be sure their shuttle is scooter accessible. If you are taking ART, their vans are accessible.

My dad has used scooters twice at DL. Both times we stayed right across the street on Harbor so he just rode the scooter to and from the park. If your hotel's shuttle can't accommodate a scooter, another option might be to ride the ART (Anaheim Resort Transit) to the parks instead.

Yes, the ART does handle scooters, or you can also use the OCTA Routes, such as route 43/543, which are scooter friendly to and from the park. And your ART pass works on the OCTA Buses.

I really appreciate the replies. Thank you for all of the help! It sounds like he just wants to rent from the park just to be able to use the rental van.

Such a nice group! Thanks!

The parks have a limited amount of scooters to rent. If its busy and you don't arrive early, there might be none available. Just something to be aware of.

Once again, my YES was into renting off-site for may reasons, insuring availability, bit also to use going to and from the parks, and at the Hotels, and any other place you want to visit, such as shops, restaurants, and even other attractions. (Using the public buses, like the LA Metro Route 460 to Buena Park, allows ECV's to travel easily))

We own an ECV, it breaks apart and we stick it in the trunk or in the back of the van. The shuttles from parking accommodate the ECV. We also rented a scooter from an outside company for use at WDW (we stayed offsite) and it broke apart as well. I would contact the scooter rental company and make sure that it will break down (I'm pretty sure some of the commercial ones don't).

Dekert's was very good to us when we rented a scooter Jan 2014, It was waiting for us at the GCH (where we were staying) when we arrived. Just dropped it at the desk when we left and it was done.

We used Deckerts on a trip earlier this year and they were amazing. They didn't even charge us for our arrival day as we Didn't even get to the hotel till about 1am.
