Just back from a long weekend 1/20- 2/2, no kids this time, staying at Boardwalk Villas (we are DVC owners).

We flew out first class, had a decent meal on the plane and a bunch of cocktails, they even gave us a bottle of wine when we got off the plane!! (US Airways) Took Tiffany TC. We weren't terribly hungry this night, We went to ESPN and had nachos at the bar, Decent but a little soggy at the end.

I ran into Scotty Bowman in the bathroom. He was standing right next to me. He had been a guest earlier and was apparently hanging around with his son and his family. He said hello and I said hello back, and congratulated him in a great coaching career. For those that don't know he is the most winningest coach in the NHL.

Friday am
Breakfast on Friday we had room service. The breakfast looks pricey at $14.99 per person but it was extremely good and large. Each had two eggs over easy, potatoes, ham, sausage, and bacon, rye and white toasts, butter and jellies, small fruit bowl, and small basket of pastries from boardwalk bakery, pot of coffee, ramikan of hot tea - requested, it was included/complimentary but not included if you don't ask). We asked for a 9am delivery, and they were there just after 9:02.

Friday
We had a late lunch at The Brown Derby. This was a first for us. We started with Grey Goose Bloody Mary's ($9.00 each). I had the Split pea soup and my wife had the Portabello muchroom ravioli appitizer. The soup was killer, the fresh peas and crunchy veggies inside of the soup made it different. The ravioli didn't blow me awy, but my wife enjoyed it.

We both had the cobb salad for lunch. What a DISAPPOINTMENT! While I have read numerous favorable reviews of this dish, it did't impress me or my wife. Next time I may ask them to hold the avacado and maybe limit the roquefert, or not have it mixed table side so I can decide how much of each I want. We shared the grape fruit cake for desert. This was everything I hoped it would be. It did have a strong orange like flavor, but overall very delicious.
**While at lunch we were seated next to Joe Buck, the FOX TV sports announcer. He was there with his wife and 2 kids.

Friday pm

We arrived at Spoodles with no PS at 9pm. No problem, we were seated in about 10 minutes. I opted for a Tapas only dinner. My wife ordered the fresh mozzarella and roasted peppers appetizer and orchiotte (sp?) pasta. Dinner came with a small bread basket that had grained bread, a corn bread type, and excellent flat bread type.

For my Tapas dinner I ordered the Sauted shrimp in hot chile oil, the lamb cigars, and the 4 cheese and roasted garlic flat bread. All were excellent. The lamb cigars are 5 fire roasted tender loin type strips, served with 4 small toasted pita triangles, a tatziki cucumber sauce, and small portion of an olive and pasta salad.

My wife's pasta was a bit spicy and not up to her liking. We took it home as our room has a fridge, micro and kitchen with utensils etc. It was very good the next day!

No dessert. This was an extremely inexpensive meal at $54 which included 2 top shelf cocktails. The tapas only experience left me satisfied in terms of being full, as well as knowing that I tried several dishes.

Saturday
We had breakfast to go from Boardwalk Bakery. Me the egg sandwich on an english muffin, she a cinnamon raisin bagel.

Saturday
Lunch at LeCellier. We have had dinner here several times but never lunch. Again we arrived with no PS. but we were seated in less then 5 minutes. We sat in the Ontario section. We started with 2 wines, Canadian Chardonay $8.50 per. I ordered the cheese soup and burger. My wife ordered the beef barley soup and the steak sandwich. Both soups were great. The beef barley soup had large pieces of tender beef with a deep flavored broth. Every knows how good the cheese soup is!!

The burger was just what the doctor ordered after all of the big heavy meals we had been eating. While my wife enjoyed her steak sandwich, I found the tarragon sauce to be over powering. If I were to order this I may have this ommited or perhaps placed on the side. We both opted for the roasted potato-potato salad. Again, my wife enjoyed this, but it was not for me. It was almost like a cole slaw type dressing over top of cold baked potatos. No dessert - bill was about $50 including tip.

Saturday Dinner

Still sick of heavy dinners we opted for ESPN club. We shared an order of the fries covered in chili, cheese, jalepeno's etc, very good. I had a 19th hole, espn speciality drink, my wife a cosmo, both were excellent. Dinner I had just a grilled chicken sandwich, simple but tasty. My wife had the burger, again, simple but tasty. We were seated next to Joe Buck again!! This time I said hello and shook his hand, asked how he was enjoying his vacation. I said hello to him just as he bumped into my table, I would never bother any celebrity while eating. ESPN did have a blocker nearby just in case anyone did not observe his privacy. But you have to be an avid sports fan to be able to spot Joe Buck, he is very unassuming.

Sorry this was so long but I really had to share!!!

Thanks

Thanks for the reviews-we were at LeCellier about a week ago and loved it. We'll definately try Spoodles on a future trip.
