DS 17 and I went on a fairly imprompu trip to Disneyland. We got back a week ago, but I've been too busy to write about it.
We stayed at the Tropicana, it was nice enough, nothing fancy, but I just wanted to be across the street since we didn't have a car this trip. The Tropicana filled our needs nicely. We never went to the pool, and once we went up for the breakfast, looked around and left. It didn't look like anything special, and we decided to grab a muffin on Main Street instead.
We has 2 half days and 2 full days in the parks, with 1 MM. We rode everything we wanted to, many times. It was pretty crowded, but with planning we rode Star Tours 6 times, Indie about 10 times (its my DS's fave of all the Disney Parks), Little Mermaid, TSMM 2 times,Soarin 3 times, Space 1 time, Peter Pan 1 time, and all the less popular attractions too. And we saw Aladdin from the front row. this is another of DS's faves, and we had never sit that close. Its was neat. The longest we waited was 30 minutes, and that was because Roger Rabbit went down while we were in line and we decided to wait it out. Otherwise the longest wait was 15 minutes. In July, that takes some planning! And it helped that there was just the 2 of us, and no small children. But we did go see Mickey in his movie barn, with a 10 minute wait.
I downloaded the MouseWaits app on my android phone, and that was fairly helpful.
We had a lot of fun, and loved the 80 degree weather (it's been 105 at home). I'm so glad I had a chance to get in a trip before DS starts his senior year in HS. He is my youngest, and I know it's nearly impossible to take trips with the kids once they are in college. Of course, my DGS just turned 2, and another DGS is 3 mos, and a DGD is due next month... so I will start with a new generation, creating more Disney fanatics!!!
