Returned last week from a quick 5 day trip! Highlights:
1) Thanks to Atlanta ice storm, it took 13 hours to fly from Scranton to Orlando.
2) Weather was iffy - warm in the beginning of the week, downright cold on Friday.
3) Had PS for Fantasmic Dinner Package on Wednesday, 02/02, but chilly weather and rain in late afternoon. We decided to skip Fantasmic, I don't know if they had it that night.
4) MK was fairly crowded all week, crowds increased toward the end of the week. On Friday Fantasyland was jammed.
5) No Fastpass at all at MGM. I don't understand why, ToT had 40 minute waits at times. Same for RnR
6) AK was nice, low crowds and very little waits. Same for Epcot.
7) We were just there in Dec. for 7 days, so we didn't rush. We were able to enjoy ourselves and seek out the little things that we usually speed by.
8) Work on the castle has begun, gold accents were being applied on Friday.
9) CoP wasn't open 2 of the days we were there.
10) Stayed off site at a house 5 minutes from the parks. Not as good as on-site, but the rental car was nice to get around in.
11) Stay away from Old Town. Very seedy, county fair-like atmosphere. Sounded a lot nicer in the brochures.
Overall, a nice trip. I was expecting lower crowds than when we were there in December. It was managable, but MK was much more crowded than I thought it would be. On Friday, PoC, BTM, and JC all had 40+ minute waits fairly early on. Many of the rides in Fantasyland had close to 60 minute waits.
I'm starting to think that the days of empty parks and walk on rides in the off season are over.
