Quick Question re ADR's and DDP

I know this may sound like a stupid question. We went to Disney the first time ever last September and took advantage of the free dining. We loved it so much, my mom and dad bought into DVC. We just booked our trip back for October. We are going to purchase the DDP, but just haven't yet - can I still make ADR's or do I have to wait until my mother puts the dining plan on our DVC ressie?
