Quick question - paying for meal without magic bands

Some friends are checking into Disney today, but they are delayed. They will have to go directly to their first dining reservation before checking in at the hotel to pick up their magic bands (International guests, so bands aren't shipped). Can they possibly still pay for this meal with the dining plan without having their magic bands or officially checking into their hotel first? They did do online check-in. Thanks for any assistance!!

They'll need either a band or a card for the server to scan. If they have nothing to scan, the restaurant won't be able to access their credits. However, they will also need them to enter a park. Do they have any old bands or RFID cards?

I do not know how or if they can deal with guests who show up without any bands or cards and want to pay via the dining plan.
