Quick Question on Using Free Dining Credits

We are going next week for Free Dining. This is the first time using the Dining Plan and I have one question. We have four adults in two rooms at Pop. My DH and DS in one room and myself and son's girlfriend in the other room.

When we are all eating together, do we each give our room key or does one person from each room give a key? I think the answer is one key from each room. I assume that the credits are being deducted from the total number of credits assigned to each room. Is this correct?
