My sister is wrapping up a Disney cruise right now and told me that on her way to Port Canaveral, there were signs for a new toll road that goes right by Disney World. I found a map showing it "under construction" and it looks to go right by the western edge of Disney property. Is it completed yet? Is it well-marked? We'll be going to Shades of Green, near the Poly. Thanks for any tips or info you can give me!

It's the 429. It may or may not be useful, depending on what part of Florida you are coming from.

Coming from NW Florida. We usually take I-10 east to I-75 and hit the Turnpike at Wildwood. When we last went to CSR, we dropped off and went down Hwy 27 to hit 192 and went in that way. Too much traffic, too many lights that way. If 429 comes close to Disney property and there are good exits for the resorts and parks, I'd like to try it. Thanks for the route number - maybe one of the online mapping sites has updated to include it.

Come down I-75 and hit the turnpike as usual.

Skip 27 and then look for and get on 429 south (marked Tampa).

About 15 miles down 429 you see the Disney/Hartzog exit. Follow the Disney signs and shortly you will see the welcoming arches over the road (Western Way). About two miles later you will get to Buena Vista Drive near Blizzard Beach.

I-75 S

Get off at exit 328 (approximately 140 miles from Georgia/Florida State Line, approximately 107 miles from I-10)

Travel on Florida Turnpike to Exit 267A (429S) (approximately 42 miles)

Travel on 429S to Exit 8 (Disney World/Hartzog Rd) (approximately 14 miles)

This road will take you to West Buena Vista Dr near Coronado Springs.

Turn right if going to All-Stars or Animal Kingdom Lodge, turn left if going anywhere else, then follow the Disney signs to your destination.

Tolls on the main Turnpike will be $2.50 for a standard vehicle. ($5.00 with a single axle trailer).

Tolls on 429S to Disney World will be just $1.00 as the Disney World Exit doesn't appear to charge a toll. ($1.50 with a single axle trailer).

(I based the mileage on the exit numbers as they coincide with mile markers).

The Disney exit does not have a toll. It should, but it doesn't. As stated, there is a $1.00 mainline toll on the 429 about 5 miles south of the Turnpike and then there are no more tolls before the Disney/Hartzog Road exit. If you miss the Disney exit then there is another mainline $1.00 toll just south of the Disney exit and just before the next exit which is US192.

Some people in NW Florida have Sunpass because of the toll bridges up there. If you do, that will save you 50-cents on the Turnpike ($2.00 toll instead of $2.50 without it) but no savings on the 429.

There's a HUGE flashing portable sign on the Turnpike just before the exit for the 429, flashes something to the effect of "Next Exit for Disney."

In addition to saying Tampa, the exit sign is also clearly marked "Disney World."

After you get off the 429, the speed limit is 45 mph for about 1/4 mile, and then drops to 35. If you aren't paying attention you could miss the two signs where it drops. FHP and Orange County SD are often on both the 429 (speed limit 65 from the tpke to WDW) and Western Way.

Thank you all for the helpful hints! I knew that I would be skipping Hwy 27 - I will do so happily! :)

is this the same way you would go if you were leaving the Orlando Airport?

Every year it seems I get lost after the airport. I remember that the directions I got last year told me to go straight after passing the airport even though there is an exit to the left (I think) that says Disney World on it. Two years ago I got lost, and I told myself last year that I would not get lost and somehow I still did. It seemed like I was driving around in circles, but never getting to our resort. I also seemed like part of the time I was lost that I was in the middle of nowhere. I don't ever remember going by any exits for WDW the way I went last year, yet that was the way my directions told me to go. I would sure like to not get lost this year. I wasted so much time driving in circles last year. My kids were so sad. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

This route has nothing to do with driving in from the airport.

This route is only good for those coming in from the North on I-75

I've never driven from the airport, so can't help there.

Airport to WDW:

Take the SOUTH Exit onto the 417 SOUTHBOUND. Drive about 20 miles, follow the signs for WDW/Osceola Parkway. It couldn't be easier, you don't even need a map.

tnmomof4: You can also take the airport's NORTH exit and then get on the 528 westbound and then merge onto I-4 westbound. On I-4 you pass by all of the various Disney exits. This route is subject to more traffic congestion, particularly on I-4.

Whether you use the airport's north or south exit, both ways easily lead to Mickeyland.
