We arrive in WDW saturday and I was looking at the weather forcast. I know that it's the season for summer storms there but I see that it's forcasted to be thunder showers all week.

How long do the thunder storms usually last? I know it's not usually an all day every day thing so that's why I'm asking lol...Here they tend to last about 30-40 mins then dissipate...

So any hints??? lol

We're so excited and don't really care if it does rain but hope that the showers are few and far between lol...

I can't tell you how many times I've been to WDW with thunderstorms predicted for the whole week and we only saw a 20 minute downpour or two the whole time. I've also been when it's pouring at MK and sunny at Animal Kingdom. It is the season though, look for 20-30 minute bursts of absolute downpours. Just enough to make it extra muggy. :teeth:

Usually storms don't last long and it can be storming in one park and not in other parks.

We usually plan indoor activity around 4ish (meal or a park with lot of indoor spots).

This week, our plans are pretty flexible to allow for adjustment for weather/heat.

Yeah that's kind of what I was figuring. I think we had the same weather predicitons 4 years ago when we came down and only saw 2 downpours lol... Thanks.

Thanks for that info. we figure there are enough buildings around that if it does pour we just duck into one.

yes you are right

Thanks for the thread! I was about to ask the same question.

I leave for Florida in 9 days and I was worried about the weather forecast as well. When I checked the weather for the next 2 weeks, it showed thunderstorms every day.

Here's hoping all goes well!!

:stitch:

We're leaving in 18 days...I haven't started to look at the forecasts yet...probably next week. If it rains, it rains....we'll still be in WDW and loving every minute of it.

We've been to WDW in August almost every year since 2003. The weather forecast in Orlando at this time of year always says the same thing - partly sunny and thunderstorms. There was only one year when there was enough rain/storms to significantly impact our vacation. Usually, a storm will move in late afternoon or early evening and move out within half an hour. Sometimes the storms hang around at night - last year we didn't get to see Fantasmic because it was storming the night we planned to go, but the days were rain and storm free. Just move indoors when the storm hits. The lightning can be wicked, but they rarely last long. We did go in a hurricane one year, but it's unusual for hurricanes to hit as far inland as Orlando. And even then, there was only one day when we couldn't be in the parks - the rest of the trip was beautiful. We leave next Friday, and my official forecast says "Happy with a strong chance of magic!":yay:

We were there last year at this time and although thunderstorms were in the forecast every day, it only rained twice and that was in the middle of the night. We're hoping for the same thing next week, too! Although, who cares what it does....we're at DISNEY!

Well I live in South Florida and I can tell you th forecast from May through october is daily Thunderstorms!!! generally around 1pm
Most of the time they blow by in less than an hour and then its just as hot and more humid than anything. Alot of time it doesnt even rain at all. (and the weather man still gets paid) Occasionally we have a day where it just rains and rain for a few hours. We were up last month and it began to rain on a friday around 4 and kept up til midnight, but the rest of the weekend was on and off scattered showers. Never longer than 30 mins. I wouldnt let a forecast keep you from coming unless we are in "The Cone" for a storm. :wizard:

Listen to this week's podcast and this is discussed during the Rapid Fire segment.:thumbsup2

I started reading this thread and giggled because I had already listened to rapid fire. You were definately on the money with this one Kevin. :)
