This seems like a really silly question but I'm drawing a blank on the answer. We are staying with family before we check in to BWV. The kids were asking about going to Beaches & Cream, then maybe walking over to Epcot for just a bit (this would be late afternoon). If we show our DVC card when parking, will we be allowed to park there if we're not staying? Is there a time limit?

a DVC member card has no benefit associated with parking.

you can park in the BWV lot to eat but NOT to go to a theme park. please be considerate of those paying to stay as guests at the BWV/BWI.

I would just either walk over to YC/BC for Beaches and Cream or take a Friendship boat (the boat going to DHS stops at YC/BC before heading to Swan Dolphin). And then walk into Epcot through the International Gateway (between UK and France). Much quicker than parking in the Epcot lot.

Using the IG is one of the advantages of staying at an Epcot Resort.:thumbsup2

this would be great advice for after you check in at BWV...

Let me clarify. We want to park at BCV to eat at Beaches & Cream in the late afternoon. We do not check into BWV until the next day. This is allowed, yes? Since we will not be staying onsite yet, I didn't know if we needed to show our DVC card in order to park there. We're traveling all day so we may not feel like going into Epcot and braving the crowds, at most it would be to visit a few pavilions in the World Showcase.

You can park at BC to eat at B&C, you don't need your DVC ID. You can not park there to go to Epcot.

We are at BWV now. If we don't use the automated gate we are asked for our room key

To clarify, your DVC card really means nothing as to whether you can park or not park in a resort lot or anywhere at WDW. You will not be allowed entry into the BC lot by simply showing that card. You may be allowed entry if you inform them that the reason you are there is to actually do something at BC such as go to Beaches and Cream. However, if we are talking busy seasons they may not let you in unless you actually have a reservation at a restaurant which you cannot get with Beaches and Cream because it does not have any reservation system. You are not supposed to park in the lot so you can go to EPCOT and that applies regardless of whether you are first going to Beaches and Cream. There are some who get into the lot based on the claim of going to a restaurant or something else at the resort who then park and go to EPCOT.

I do appreciate all the replies and will really take all of this into consideration. I really don't want to burn a park day on our tickets if we change our minds after eating (and yes, we were only talking about an hour or two). We've got lots of time though so no need to figure this all out now.

If it's during Flower & Garden or Food & Wine, they can be strict. One time I was staying at BWV and went over to BCV to pickup some friends and they gave me a hard time. I said I was just there to pickup friends, the guard kept saying "you can't park". I said "I don't want to park!". Finally she let me in.

A reminder that the DVC Boards do not allow posts suggesting or encouraging breaking Disney/DVC policies.

Parking at resorts, if not staying there, is fine for dining or accessing resort services like hair salons and spas. You may not park at a resort for Theme Park access.
