Quick! Need Las Vegas info....

I stayed at the Trop in a Paradise Tower room, 16th floor..for the price of a Garden Room!! We had an awsome view of Excalibur and Luxor. As for the pool issue, we would get off on te second floor(next to the comedy club) and walk through the back hallway. The landing went over the lounge area and we would stop there on the way to and from the pool and either people watch or just observe. We used to walk with just a towel. Lot less people this way and you dont feel so wrong cutting though the casino.

I'm LOVING all the pics and info on the Trop!!! Gosh, leave it to the DIS, to give me all the Vegas info I need!!!;)

Fire 14 (Julie), I forgot you were staying at the Trop! If you take pics, I'm interested in your view and the pool the most. Which tower are you in?

Shutterbug (Kevin-right?:D ).......LOVE your site!!! Thanks for the link!:smooth:

Judy......enjoy your trip and feel free to PM me a Trip Report on the Trop!!! :bounce:

I'm staying in whatever area they decide to put us in. First half think we booked garden but are hoping for upgrade. Second half we are in Island towers I believe. I will take pictures and try to post .

Thank you! Those are just few of the pics from my many albums fo vegas pictures. I would say I have over 1000 pics!

If you have any other questions, let me know.

Oh do want to mention, as far as the buffet at the Trop goes...there are better ones around for the price...skip it.

Fire14, I would suggest trying to upgrade before you get there.
The only thing that garden rooms have going for them is the view of the pool(thats if you can get one with that view).

One more tip if you have a car. There is a WalMart on Tropicana Ave, a few miles away from the Tropicana. Its charges normal prices for water, snacks, film etc. Its usually the first place I hit when I get to Vegas to stock up on things like that.
The shops in the hotel usually will charge you at least double of what you would pay for at Walmart. I can buy a couple of gallons of spring water to keep in the room for the same price of a liter in the hotel shop.

OOH, speaking of WalMart, there's a Target on Maryland Parkway, also just off Trop. (I get really excited about Target because we don't have one in Hawaii!)

Also on Maryland Parkway is Boulevard Mall, my favorite non-outlet mall in Vegas. (For those of you who have pets or love animals, there's a great pet store in Boulevard.)

On Tropicana, there's a great pizza place called Metro Pizza.

I've been there twice. First trip, we stayed at Treasure Island. We got a corner room on the 19th floor...it had a great view and was really nice. Our second trip, we stayed at the Flamigo. The room wasn't as nice, but the pool was great! Both are mid-strip (Flamingo maybe a little more mid strip) You should keep that in mind when looking for a hotel. If you won't have a car (we didn't either trip) you will be doing A LOT of walking. Our first trip, we saw Mystere. Some people say it's the best show (even better than O) in Las Vegas. If you can't get O tickets, try for Mystere. Both are Cirque shows. Good luck and have fun, if you do decide to go!:D

Hey any of you Vegas experts on this thread....is Blue Man Group worth the money???

Another question........would you recommend renting a car. We're staying for almost a week.:D

Thanks!

And thanks Claudia for starting a great thread!;) :bounce:

ncligs, I'd love to hear what you think about the timeshare at the Polo Towers. My MIL just bought one sight unseen  and I would love to know what it is like. Thanks!

I'm far from an expert, but I'll answer your questions...

I never saw Blue Man Group, but my hairdresser did and she really liked it. She also liked Danny Gans, another one we never saw.

We never rented a car when we went. If you've never been there before, you can easily spend at least three days checking out the other hotels on the strip. There are buses that run the strip, that go downtown, for $2. We took that, our last trip, to Freemont Street. If you're planning on going to Hoover Dam or the Grand Canyon or somewhere other than the strip, you could rent the car for the day. The traffic is so bad on the strip, you could probably walk faster. We also took a bus to the Stratosphere, which is at the end of the strip. They have an observation floor there, with the two rides at the top...Big Shot and a roller coaster, but like someone else said, you gotta do Big Shot, but skip the roller coaster. The view at the top of this hotel is gorgeous. Try to get there for the sunset...beautiful!

I'm not a gambler but found plenty to do and see to occupy my time. Our last trip, we planned a few pool days and did the strip at night. We don't stay a week, though. Five days is long enough for us.

Hey any of you Vegas experts on this thread....is Blue Man Group worth the money???
Do you like unique things and powerfully stimulating music with comedy thrown in? If you do, then imho it is a must see. I just attended the 10PM show again last night. Gave 2 tickets to a young newlywed couple from St Paul,MN. They had a blast.:) It is a wonderful sensory experience and we personally never get tired of it. Our seats are comped but we would pay for the show in an instant(and have at the tables:() as it is that unique. Go ask Alice I think she'll know;)

As far as a rental car goes It can come in handy, if you want to do some sightseeing and get away from the strip. Take a drive out to Hoover Dam,RedRock Canyon,Mt Charleston(Real name Charleston Peak),Bonnie Springs Old Nevada.
Hoover Dam
Red Rock Canyon
Mt. Charleston
Bonnie Springs Old Nevada

Like one of the other posters stated, driving on the strip on the weekends can be horrible. Will be nice when the monorail is completed for strip visitors.

BMG rocks, just don't walk in expecting something you can totally understand. Just sit back and let it happen to you (although you have way more fun if you participate!)

We only rented a car for one day the last time we were there do we could drive out to hoover and red rock. I don't think the walking is that bad, if you plan out ahead of time what you want to do.

We made the mistake of walking all the way from the Venetian to Mandalay for the shark exhibit, and then back! We should have broken up that trip a little more:)

Thanks for the BMG reviews!:smooth: Still debating if we're going to see them or not. I hope it's not going to be too late to get tickets for when we go!

Thanks for the Walmart Tip. I will plan on using to get some pictures printed. I'll also go buy my water there.

Hi everyone:
Having lots of Fun in Vegas. We are staying at Trop. in Island tower:) Talk about nice room I don't wanna leave. I'll post some pics soon. Think I've walked more than I ever did at Disney.

Thanks Juli for the great pictures!!! I'm getting so-o-o-o excited now for our trip to the Trop next month!!!!:smooth: :bounce:

When you get back, PM me your room # if you think I would like it!! It's on the Strip side, right? Are the elevators on the side of the building? What a view from them!!!

What's the pool like? Was the water warm or cold?

I have tons of other questions but I really need to get the kids up for school!!! :jester:

Keep having fun!!:smooth:

Yes trop is on the strip MGM and NEW York New York are accross street. Manlday bay and Luxor are sorta behind Trop.
Our Room was in Island tower . Elevators are on side of building.

I haven't made it into the pool yet but I promise I will make it, before I come home. Right now I'm in UT. for Friend's Wedding. Have lots of pictures I'll try to get posted so you can see our room. We had King size bed. Let's just say WE were spoiled.
