I'm trying to make a recipe for dinner and am in the middle of it. I'm hoping to finish it before my 6-week old wakes up. It calls for 8 oz. of dried pasta, but I don't have any type of measuring device. Can anyone tell me how to at least estimate what 8 oz. of angel hair is?

I've seen those measuring devices with various sized circles in which you insert the pasta for different measurements. Maybe someone can tell me about how big the circle is for 8 oz.- is it maybe the size of a quarter?

thanks
Laura

What size package did it come in. If it's a 1lb package, use 1/2 the package.

How many ounces in the package of angel hair that you have? Could you sort of 'eyeball' it? For instance, if the package is 16 ounces, you would use half? It won't be exact, but you'll get close.

Good Luck!!!

I don't know if this will help or not. I believe most boxes of pasta are 16oz so I will usually guestimate how much have of the box looks like.

Do you have a kitchen scale? Pasta is usually measured in weight not volume. If the box you are using is a 1 pound box, use half of it. :)

did it come in a box or a bag?

Often times the bag ot box says that it is 16oz or however many oz it is, you can always guess and determine that half is 8 oz.

Goodluck

It's from a 12 oz. box which has been partially used... a bit harder to eyeball! I guess I'll do my best and see what happens!

With Angel Hair it should be a little smaller than the size of a fifty cents piece. That should be about 8 ozs.

Problem solved... I found an unopened 16 oz. box of ziti so I will just use half of that. Thanks for giving me the idea to use half of a 16 oz. box... my mind was stuck on using the remaining angel hair from a 12 oz. box and I didn't consider what other unopened pastas I might have that would make estimating easier!

thanks again, you all are always so quick and dependable!
