Quick help needed - Should I cancel Remy?

I leave tomorrow on the Dream. I am having second thoughts about Remy. We love great food, but its our first cruise ever with our kids, first Disney cruise for us. Our Remy reservation is for the night I think the Villains show will be. I am starting to think we should save Remy for another time and spend each night with the kids, not miss the shows. We could have some adult time once the kids are in bed because my parents are on the cruise too and will sit with them once they go to bed one night while we go enjoy some time in a lounge or just walking the ship on our own. We'll have some great meals in WDW once we get off too, so it's not like we won't get a few gourmet experiences. Just curious about people's thoughts. Can Remy wait til our next cruise or is it not to be missed?

My opinion is that Villains isn't worth it, but only you can judge if you want to spend time with your kids. If it is a sea day, they might have an afternoon show too.

I don't think you'll regret not going or that you'll regret going. There is so much to do that you have to miss some things, but don't worry about those as long as you are enjoying the things you do do. Just have fun.

You can cancel up to the day before, so I think you should keep your plans and see how it's going.

The Villains show was very weak I thought. Hades is the 'host' of the show and is turned into an old time comedian, with a bunch of pretty tired jokes.
Have you thought about rescheduling Remy to a later time?

I haven't been to Remy (we cruise in July) but I just wanted to say that I am in the exact same position as you. 1st cruise as a family with the kids and I an having the same debates as you about missing shows or dinners or what night and I think I am going to opt for a Remy brunch instead. That way we still have our evenings to go to the shows and not miss the MDR nights either (again since it's the 1st cruise as a family). What about trying to switch to brunch when you are on board that way you still get to try Remy? I wouldn't cancel yet since it seems like its easier to move reservations around once you have one (not speaking from experience but from my disboard research).

Good luck with your decision! Have a great cruise!

Boy, its a shorter cruise and Remy's is a long dinner. I think I would save that for another cruise. Not because of missing Villians, but missing a night with your servers in a dining room and a dinner with your kids.

We went to Remy's on our second Dream cruise. (our 10th DCL cruise). It was AMAZING, perfect for that trip. And I can't wait to go back, but we have been in the Dream since then and didn't do it because of missing the time with the family. :)

NEVER CANCEL REMY (just my humble opinion)... we've dined there 3 times & it is not to be missed. Unless you're going to Victoria & Albert's when you hit WDW, nothing in the parks will match Remy.
As you noted your parents can watch your children & hopefully take them to the show. Go for it :thumbsup2

I would not pass over Remy for the Villains show. Like other posters said, the comedy is "old". The dining experience surpasses any other on the ship.

Add me to the list of those who would never cancel Remy. It was by far one of the best dining experiences we ever had.

the only argument i see is for the “first cruise”/new to the MDRs angle? usually there are matinees of shows or you can see the show early and dine at remy after. i would aim to have the remy reservation on a menu repeat night and go. the cost of that menu (forget you have paid the premium disney cruise price) is much more bang for the buck than any WDW dining experience, i think an equal dinner experience at V&As would be at least the same but i think more.... so given that you have “built in” babysitting... i would not miss it!

I nodded off during the Villains show, but what I recall of it wasn't so impressive:confused3

I do recall our Remy dining experiences a lot though. The only WDW restaurant that is close to the same experience is Victoria and Albert's. I would keep Remy. If you spend a lot of time earlier in that day with your kids you won't feel so bad about leaving them for a few hours.

Like others have said it is impossible to get it all in on one trip. You just have to book another cruise when you are onboard:confused3

The Villians show is great and you should watch it with your children. IMO, Remy is not worth it. However, if you feel you need to experience Remy, save it for a longer cruise.

Enjoy your cruise!

Personally, I would cancel Remy and spend the time with your children.

You can spend a couple hundred at Remy and it's gone, but time with your children in this wonderful setting can't be replaced.

We enjoyed Villians very much and still had a wonderful dinner at Animator's with our family the same evening. Remy can wait.

No one is saying you shouldn't spend time with your kids:confused3
There is more than one dinner on your cruise, right?
We have wonderful memories of spending time with our kids over our past 7cruises, but my DH and I also have wonderful memories as a couple as well.
Remy is a really special place to dine.
There are some wonderful reviews.

Trust me, you can still be a great parent and have dinner at Remy;)

This :thumbsup2

Our first cruise was a 3 day Dream cruise. We went to Palo one evening. Our kids were thrilled to have the evening at the kids clubs rather then in the MDR with us :)

I agree with other posters, do not pay attention to judgy posts. You can still be a great parent and miss one dinner with your child on a cruise. I have never dined at Remy but I LOVE PALO. It is my favorite place on the cruise ship and would never miss going there for even one cruise. Every other dinner I eat with my kids and honestly my kids are not too thrilled with the mdrs. It is very long and usually takes at least 90 mins to finish and by halfway through they want to go back to the clubs or are wanting to leave and wait to get good seats for the show. So if you want to go to Remy, I say go and enjoy guilt free!

Soooooooo don't do anything without your kids until they are big own up/out of the house? To me it depends on if/when you'll be back, budget, and interest in fine dining. Sounds like you have the have the interest! There is so much to do on a first cruise, so without doing anything "extra" you all will have an amazing time!

If you go to remy the kiddos and grandparents will be having a great home you can all have fun talking about that night probably! Also, share your lollipops! :hyper:

This is your vacation too, I say don't cancel Remy.

Even if the grandparents are willing to babysit, I'm sure they would enjoy alone time too. Maybe they can go to Palo?

Why else is the kids club or nursery available? The kids LOVE it (mine did)

Like another poster said, when will you be back with Disney cruising?

Enjoy yourself, let go a little & just have fun!
