I just found out I need to make a dessert by 5pm. :sad2:

I have a box of brownie mix... and ONE egg.

Can I use Egg Beaters WHITES in the other eggs place, or will it not turn out?

It's for two kids, so I don't want it to taste like crap.;)

Sure, I could go to the store, but if you all say I have to, the kids are getting Chips Ahoy! :rotfl:

Thanks!

You can substitute applesauce for eggs. Not sure of the measurement, but google it and you'll find it.

The equivalent of two egg whites (I believe it's 1/3 cup equals one egg? It should say on the carton) and a tsp. of canola oil (or vegetable oil) should work just fine in replacement of one egg.

Per foodsubs.com:

Substitute 2 egg whites for each whole egg. This substitution may make baked goods less tender. To compensate, try adding 1 teaspoon of oil per egg called for in recipe.

Sorry I'm no help about the egg white question - but I have another idea : why don't you use half of the brownie mix, with the egg and 1/2 the oil, and bake it in a small square pan? That should be enough for 2 kids - a whole pan of brownies is usually so much anyway.

AWESOME idea (why didn't I think of that???). Thanks!

And THANK YOU so much for finding this! It is great fir future reference!!!

You're welcome :). And FTR, it's 3 tbsp. of egg whites equals one whole egg, not 1/3 cup. But doing it by half would be much easier. Good luck!

Now THAT's thinking outside of the box :rotfl:

You can also just omit the extra egg. I do. It makes the brownies more fudgy... less cakey.
