Quick Help? (ASAP!)

Its easy to get a meal deal at the food court and split it - some get an extra side of bacon -

At Magic Kingdom either Pecos Bill (near Splash Mountain) or the place in tomorrowland Cosmic Rays (which has a strange layout - several counters but each with different menus, some have chicken, some burgers) You can get a double hamburger - and then ask for a plain bun (.80 cents) then you can split the burger because both have a HUGE 'fixin' bar with cheese, mushrooms, etc, etc... Get a LARGE soda, no ice - and split it, you can get a cup of ice free anywhere btw!!

It may seem like a good idea to walk to McD - and I am one to be the early riser and search out mcd - but not here - its hot, its far, and you walk all day in the parks anyway!!

Have fun, pack granola bars, call for a grocery stop and have them deliver pop granola bars, pop tarts, bags of chips - there is a grocery store in the resorts - not that much more expensive - you can take the bus to DTD and buy food from the publix someone mentioned earlier -

Good planning btw!!

Read through the menus on allearsnet.com - that's how I found what meals would be a good value when split. I second the Cosmic Rays suggestion and will add Tangeriene Cafe. Their lamb and chicken platter is plenty for two people to share.

Another thing you could do if you are early risers and hungry in the morning is get on the first bus of the day and go to either Fort Wilderness or Shades of Green and eat their breakfast buffet. Shades of Green is $7 or $8 plus tip...Fort Wilderness' Trails End buffet is probably a couple dollars more...but the hot entrees (eggs, bacon, sausage), rolls, yogurt and fresh fruit are a good value price-wise at Disney, especially if you have a decent appetite in the morning.

Both places have easy access to the MK. At FW...get on a boat at the dock (close by Trail's End) and it takes you directly to the MK...or, at Shades of Green it's a fairly short walk to the MK.

Could I please get some more info on that buffet idea at Shades of Green or Fort Wilderness. While we're only going to MK one day, I wouldn't mind eating at a buffet before MK. Any estimates on how early we'd have to eat there if we wanted to be at the park between 9:00 and 9:30 AM? Granted, this is a vacation, but I am a morning type of person, so even if it was just me and another friend or two, I still would do it. Since we're staying on property, the others can catch a bus to MK and meet us there. Again, thanks a bunch for the help, guys!!

These buffets are MADE for morning people! Lol...if I wanted to get to the MK by 9-9:30...I'd be at the boat dock of FW by 8:45-9am...so I'd arrive at the breakfast buffet by 7:45-8am...which would mean leaving AS by bus around 7-7:15am. (I am guessing at these times...but they are probably pretty good guesses) One thing you want to do is check with the front desk when the first buses arrive/leave for FW or Shades of Green (SOG is also easily accessed by a walkway from the Polynesian)

The FW Trail's End buffet is more expensive than I remember...about $12 plus tax/tip...but still it's a great breakfast.

The Garden Gallery at Shades of Green doesn't have its breakfast buffet listed, but it was available the last time I was there in January 2006. At that time the preice was $7 -$8 plus tip and it included scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit, ceral and a waffle bar. I'm reasonably sure it is still there and priced the same, but here are their dinner offerings anyway for sure:

...my thought would be...splurge and go to FW early one morning and afterwards take the boat directly to the MK...then on another day, do Shades of Green for an early evening buffet and afterwards walk to the Poly, catch the resort monorail to TTC, transfer to the Epcot monorail (if there's time ask/wait to sit up front with the monorail driver), go to Epcot and catch Illuminations.

...but then I'm a Disney fanatic! Let us know what you end up doing!

Don't do the Trail's End for breakfast. It cost us, (2 adults, 2 kids) over 50 dollars for breakfast.

There's a Shoney's right outside Downtown Disney where you can get an identical meal for 30, and there's a Waffle House across the street, which is THE hands down winner for the Cheapskate Eater Award, breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Just follow Buena Vista Drive outside the All Star, all the way through Downtown Disney, out to Crossroads(it's right there) and go right at the big stop light where Buena Vista dead ends into the Crossroads shopping center, the Waffle House is on your left.

Yeah, you'll get fat, but there's no cheaper good eats anywhere around, breakfast lunch and dinner (it's not just waffles)!
