We're "moving up" to a deluxe this time around. I know the Polynesian does not have a food court, but is there anyplace to grab a donut/pastry/muffin or some finger food for breakfast on the run?

Does the Polynesian have the mugs? If so, where do you fill them?

TIA!:p

Captain Cooks is the snack bar (open 24 hours). They have all the pastries/cereals etc....as well as a few hot choices. You fill your mugs there too. :D

Aloha!

AND.... Cap'n Cook's has both indoor and outdoor seating. Great to sit under the swaying palms if weather allows. Also great to get food 'to go' and sit on your patio/balcony if you have one:D

AND...the refrigerated section of Cap'n Cook's offers juices, milks, yogurts and fruit bowls, cottage cheese.....(and nice sandwiches/salads for lunch or dinner!).

AND.....there are toasters for 'fix your own' toast and bagels....

IMHO, Cap'n Cook's offers one of the best 'quick food' options at WDW resorts (next to my own kitchen at DVC/BCV ;))!!

AND... open 24/7, too!

Have a tropical time!!!:D

We too are moving up to a deluxe for our next trip and I am so excited. I am however still planning to bring things for a light breakfast in our room. Muffins, poptarts, oatmeal bars etc. as well as small cans of juice or juice boxes. We drive but most of these items could be packed and checked in your luggage. Does anyone else take breakfast - snack foods to a deluxe? My resort cost will be much higher this trip and I need to keep cost down a little somewhere.

The Kona Coffee bar also has some pastries from their in-house bakery.

We've stayed at the Polynesian twice and love it. Captain Cook's is basically a snack bar with a couple of refrigerator cases; it doesn't offer the variety of the food courts at the other resorts.(On the other hand, the other resorts don't have 'Ohana and Kona; more on that in a moment).

One thing we did to save time in the morning was get breakfast at Captain Cook's the night before. After the girls would go to bed, I'd wander over to Captain Cook's, get cereal, milk, fruit, bowls, and spoons and bring them back to the room. I'd put the milk in the ice bucket and then cover it with ice; that kept it just fine until the morning. In the morning we'd have a quick bowl of cereal and head on out without spending time in line or finding a seat or anything like that.

Turns out this also saved money (compared to getting breakfast at a restaurant). This cost me about $7.00 a night, but we didn't have to get a refrigerator or hump a suitcase of food along with us. (There's only three of us and we flew; if there were seven of us and we were driving it would cost $18 or so and I'd have a completely different attitude toward bringing my own food).

One more thing.... save money and time to have at least one breakfast at Kona.... it's GREAT! I promise, you'll thank me.

Good luck and have fun,

Kevin

I did check Captain Cooks menu on Deb's site, and that's why I was initially confused; all they list is hot food!

Since we have 3 kids, I usually pack some snack food and juice boxes. I'll bring along a variety pack of cereal for some quick breakfasts and plan to do like the previous poster.

Thanks for all the tips. Can't wait to try breakfast at Kona. I've heard their coffee is to-die-for!!

We have stayed on the monorail for our last two trips and yes, I always bring lots of snacks and things. One of my DDs is very picky so I always have cereal, granola bars, fruit snacks, etc. It saves a lot. Buying a refillable mug also saves money because my husband and I drink coffee and tea.

Before we left on our last trip, I had read so much here about the Kona Cafe, that it ended up on my "must do" list. We really enjoyed that breakfast very much. We just got up a little earlier and I did plan it on a day that we were going to either MK or Epcot (since we would just hop on the monorail and be there quickly). Being on the monorail is worth every penny. Time how long it takes you to get to MK - under 10 minutes - can't beat that!!

Jordan's MOM:

We've stayed at deluxes the last two years. We drove as well & brought a plug-in cooler & a big Rubbermaid container (filled with utensils, food, coffeemaker, etc.) to our room with us. No-one seemed to "bat an eyelash" as the porter took it all to our room (of course, the more you bring the more you have to tip the porter), so don't hesitate to bring what you want along. We just find it quicker (& cheaper) to have breakfast in our room most days (unless we have a pool day or have a PS) and find it much cheaper to bring our own soft drinks/juice etc.

Have fun and enjoy your stay at a deluxe.

Don't count on Captain Crook's to save any $$. The only thing we found to be consistent in price with anywhere else was the mug refills.

We still alternately crack up and steam up about the nachos - for a bag of chips and a single serving of yellow quasi-cheese-food-product....... $5!!!!!!

Bring your own, except for when you need the milk and juice. We were able to stomach forking over the money for those.

Other than that, have a lovely time at the Polynesian. It's a beautiful place.

Captain Cook's has a pretty good selection of things you can grab for a quick breakfast. I have to recommend their french fries for a snack, though ;)

Oh, and um, you're taking me with you, right?;)

I have to agree with Dad of Five on the prices. We went in there one night, ok actually it was early a.m., to get a snack after a night at Pleasure Island and I COULD NOT believe the prices. Some of it was the same stuff we were getting in concierge for "free" I'll admit we were on a plan that included more meals than we could eat and Captain Cook's fulfilled our snack option for that day, but WOW!

WDW Poly Princess.... when is Disney coming to Branson?
I have heard for about the last 15+ years that they own land there. But, I don't think I believe it.

If I'm not mistaken, the sundry shops at most of the hotels usually carry some assortment of snacks and doughnuts. Granted, the prices will probably be above average, but it's an option.
