Quick ? Can my name be on two different reservations for the same date?

Want to start making a 7 month ressie but don't want to cancel my 11 month back up ressie until I have all my new dates. If my name is on both ressies ( 2 ressies ,same date)is that an issue?

Online you can do it, if MS gets involved they won't allow it.

Just use any name for the new reservation and correct it after you book and cancel.

Yes, I've had my name in many reservations over the same time period. It's only a problem if you actually try to check in to multiple reservations. Your key will only work on one room.

Agree with previous 2 posters-was trying to book a may vaca before PVB opened up and could only get BLT for 2 of the 4 nights (non consecutive) had booked those online but not cancelled the AKL reservation (for the full 4) as a back up for 1 day until PVB booking opened (hoped to snag the missing BLT days once PVB opened)-Called member services day PVB opened (BLT wasn't initally opening up so was going to book poly and cancel other reservations) and MS was perturbed that there were duplicate reservations-online doesn't know the difference MS won't allow it (which I guess is good for us all so people with a ton of points can't "sit on extra rooms" for long periods of time shutting out other members.)

This is interesting, just yesterday I called MS to book Poly for the first two nights of my Oct stay, but still had my initial BLT reservation. The reason I wanted to call MS to book it was because I wanted to make sure my banked points were used first. I had never been in the situation before, so didn't realize I could have always called back or emailed and had points reallocated. The lady at MS never mentioned my already booked BLT reservation. Ten mins later I of course went online and cancelled the BLT myself. This evidently isn't the norm, as people stated above, but wanted to share my experience

I do it all the time when traveling with my parents. They never want a 2BR so we get 2 studios but the reservations are usually at the same time

I was just asking this on another forum! I need to book a cash reservation for family members (not DVC points like ours is) and link it to my MDE. There trip would be the same days as ours. I didnt know if doing this would "screw up" my DVC resort confirmation at all.

You can book it but just put their name on the reservation-
I did this for inlaws going with is in May-I called member services and used my DVC discount to book the room (gave my credit card) but put my inlaws names on the room not mine since we already have our own studio-since we are all linked on MDE I can see both reservations and both are in my DVC online account since both were booked with my membership (one points and one cash)

Glad to help it is pretty substantial discount (25%) and it applies to resorts like BLT that are usually excluded from the public discounts often avail (2015 public spring room discount didn't include BLT but I was able to book at 25% off rack rate with DVC discount) nice perk
