Quick breakfast

We really don't want a big, sit down breakfast on the mornings we'll be at the park. We're staying at the PP hotel. Where would be a good place to grab a quick bite to eat (say, a bagel or muffin and juice)? Either at the hotels or Downtown Disney or near the entrance of DL?

If we're staying at PP, would the Whitewater Snacks at Grand Californian be a good choice? Don't we cut through here to get to DL? I'm assuming White Water Snacks would be open early. We have a MM day so we'll need to eat around 7:00a on our way over.

Thanks for any tips! :teeth:

WWS would be good, but I'm not sure what time they open. Many times, there isn't anything open at the times we're heading for the park so we either grab something from Blue Ribbon Bakery and then eat a little later (we like La Brea sit-down) or occasionally we buy something ahead of time. Compass Bookstore is a good option for easy breakfast food like bagels, fruit, yogurt, etc plus they have good coffee. Again, not sure what time they open but it tends to be earlier than other places in DTD. My dh likes that they have Krispy Kreme doughnuts :)

I'm not familiar with what PPH has in the way of food but there might be something you can buy at the hotel for a quickie meal.

ETA: I just remembered that I discovered the beignets at Jazz Kitchen Express on my last trip. YUMMMMMMM. As with the other places, you'd have to see what time they open. I think it's too bad that there isn't an early-bird option in DTD for those of us who want something between 6 and 7.

White Water Snacks is a good choice, or our favorite is La Brea Bakery, right outside the security lines into the Esplanade. Their itmes are HUGE, so can easily split portions. There is also a small place next to the DLH at the beginning of DTD on that side - I want to say Compass Bookstore? - where we have picked up muffins, sweet kind of things and milk.

You can get things to go at La Brea Bakery.....

Hey, great minds think alike, amama!! :goodvibes

For a quick breakfast/snack on those MM days, I am planning to bring a loaf of Great Harvest bread and some fruit. :thumbsup2 It's $5 a loaf but my kids love it- even untoasted without butter- weird kids. Their cinnamon burst is amazing. Bringing something might be another idea. For the days we have a little more time, I will go to WWS and bring it back to the villa unless I feel like cooking. I am usually up a good hour before anyone else.

:thumbsup2 you got that right. Those 2 places are really great! Ive been to both for quick bites. La Brea is my favorite though. Their portions are big. I usually pass the rest of to my dad. I never hear him complain. HA!

Just FYI- Last time we were there La Brea didn't open until the same time as the park opened. I thought that was pretty stupid. And the line was huge, so if you waited in it once they opened, you missed the crucial first half hour in the park!

I would hope that they have changed this, but I would check first (or maybe you aren't a rope drop kind of person like I am, haha).

This is what I was worried about, especially on MMs. I think I'm going to throw a package of bagels and some peanut butter in my suitcase to just "tide us over" until we've gotten some rides in.

Yeah, one day we actually beat my Sister-in-law and her family and we went inside and got breakfast snacks at the Blue Ribbon Bakery on Main Street and did a ride before they even made it in the park.

Bagels and Peanut Butter will certainly save you money too, haha.

We always bring our own breakfast items to the hotel. Most hotels have a fridge so we bring begals and cream cheese, fruit, eggs in a tupperware for breakfast burritos. You can also go to the coffee place on Main Street, they have giant pastries!

The PPH also has a little counter service place (I think it's called the Surfside Lounge?) off of the lobby, in the lounge/bar area. They serve various coffee drinks (good blended mochas), fruit, pastries, snacks and I think I saw some sandwiches - that sort of thing. I don't know when they actually open, but I remember being down there in the 7:00 a.m hour one morning to get some OJ and coffee and they were open. I doubt they have the variety that WWS has, but it's handy to have the Surfside Lounge there for convenience.

When we went on MMs nothing was open. Luckily I had checked out the opening times of establishments before those mornings so we always bought our stuff the previous evenings (we did muffins from La Brea and Blue Ribbon Bakery for two separate mornings and bought milk and bananas from WWS). I also saw bagels and cereal available in the evening at WWS, so if you want something a little more healthy than muffins . . .
For coffee I waited until we were in the park and grabbed some after riding our required MM rides in Fantasyland. I actually did it right before we were going to Toontown so I had lots of time to drink it . . .

With that early of a MM you're not going to find much open. And WWS isn't on the way when going through PPH to get to DL. If you were heading to DCA through the Grand it would be closer, but not for the DL path.

Bring juices, granola bars, that sort of thing...fuel up a bit with that for the MM, and have a proper breakfast a couple/few hours into the morning. That's what we do!

Compass Bookstore in DTD has Krispy Kremes? I  Krispy Kremes! Is there an actual Krispy Kreme location close to DLR?

Yes the Paradise Pier DOES have a tiny snack counter - it is open by 7 and I "think" it opens at 6 - certainly worth a call to the hotel to see when. They have a display case with pastries, bagels and sandwiches, as mentioned above. Plus coffee and coffee drinks.

The good thing about it is it is usually completely empty - the bad thing is that the workers often seem a bit confused. :rotfl2:

The blueberry muffins at Blue Ribbon Bakery are to die for, and huge! :cloud9:

But I usually like to have a light breakfast early, and then a big lunch in the park at 11:30 before the lunch rush usually starts.

Is there a Great Harvest near by? Like within walking distance of PPH?

I love Great Harvest and where I live, the nearest one is 3 hours away...I'd love to put a few loaves in my carry on to bring back!

We stayed at PPH and found that on MM nothing was open including WWS. What we did was grab something quick at the Blue Ribbon Bakery and off we went. Had a snack mid morning and then a bigger lunch. I was surprised that La Brea and WWS weren't open that early.
