Hi -

I'm getting ready for my 1st stay at BLT (very excited!)
Any tips for viewing the fireworks?
Top of the world need reservations?

Thanks!

don't stand too near the automatic doors that connect BLT to the Contemporary = it confuses them and they just wiggle ;)

so, approximately how early do i need to get up to TOTWL?

Thanks!

Depends upon what you want to do. If you just want to stand on the outdoor deck and watch the fireworks, you could arrive 30 seconds before it begins.

If you want a seat in the lounge, you'll have to arrive much earlier than that. A seat by the front windows closest to MK--earlier still.

I haven't been there in a few years so I'll defer to others on exact arrival times. I suspect crowd levels vary greatly from one day to the next.

TotWL never fills to capacity. Maybe on the 4th of July and/or New Years they might...MIGHT.

In most cases, if all you are doing is going to see the fireworks, I would get to the elevator at the bottom of BLT about 15 minutes before showtime. This will give you enough time to get up, and get a spot to watch.

If you want a few drinks, i'd recommend getting up there 30 minutes before showtime. A lot of people show up at once, and there is only two people up there serving drinks, so it can take some time to get served during that time.

But if you do go up there... PLEASE grab a drink or two. The lounge is there to make Disney money, and if they aren't making money off of it then they will close it. Then we won't have it as an option for fireworks viewing anymore :sad1:

We were very lucky during our Feb. stay at BLT. Our lake view room was on the same side as MK. I sat on my balcony every night and watched Wishes from there.

Many go up 5 minutes before they start. One night, i threw my laundry into the dryer on the 1st floor, went to TOTW lounge had a drink, watched wishes, and then went down to fold my laundry..... Its the most fun i ever had at a "Laundromat"!

If all else fail, you can see them from the area outside the elevators... we were next to the elevators in 914 and could see them from our balcony (even though we had a water view) and the elevator waiting area.

I agree with this however I would hope Disney might revamp the lounge first before closing it down completely. Maybe offering more food items to guests would be a good idea.Even if they closed the lounge maybe the viewing deck would still be available to guests for fireworks shows.

they don't have enough CM in the first place -
no place to cook or store more food at TOWL
it does not have a real kitchen.
so more food items would be hard

would hope the viewing deck would be open - you don't even need to go into the lounge to get to the deck.

you would think that Disney would understand that DVC members would like more choices and have TOWL with a full kitchen - but think they were then thinking more of parties and things. Since they tried a couple of times to put tables out on the deck - and the tables got blown away. so no full kitchen for TOWL.

mean if you want people to drink more - being able to feed them would be helpfully.

We were there last Oct when the resort was full and watched Wishes 3x from the deck. Each time we got a spot on the rail (actually a wall) about 10 minutes before it started. The wall is quite tall and small children can't see over it, so parents will probably find it easier to be able to lean against the wall and hold their child up. We also watched from the big glass windows by the elevator, and there's a bench there.
