Are you allowed to check a small aerosol can in your luggage?

It's Off bug spray.

I tried to check the TSA website, but I'm still not really sure. It says No Aerosols except for personal care or toiletries in limited quantities :confused3

I know I've taken hairspray in my checked luggage before with no issues. I'd guess Off falls into the "personal care" category. You might ask whoever's checking your bag when you get to the airport; maybe leave it in a readily-accessible part of the suitcase in case you have to find it and get rid of it.

Yes - we had both hair spray and root lifter in an aerosol.

The root lift was a big ol' can - that was checked in my g/f's luggage.

The hair spray was like a 2 oz Sebastian Shaper - that was carry on.

Both were fine.

Have fun!

Thank You both!! I'm going to throw it in the front pocket...just in case.

I wasn't sure if this counted as "personal care" since it's labeled chemical & hazardous.

Checked - it's fine in any amount. Just put it in a ziploc bag in case it leaks, to protect your other items.

Carry-on - it's got to be less than 3 oz. and fit in your 3-1-1 bag.

Yes, it is OK, because it is meant to be applied to the body. Quantity rules are as the PP noted.

Aerosols that are not meant to be applied to the body, such as Lysol or spray starch, are banned in any quantity.
