Currently playing phone tag with my guide--I am 27 points short of what I need to complete our October reservations because I gave my points to a friend who is going at the same time. I do not regret giving her the room, just the timing! Anyway, the last time I checked the current price for the sold-out resorts was $84 per point through Disney. How few would I have to purchase to finance through Disney? And are there currently any Magical Beginnings in place for any resorts besides SSR? Thanks so much!

If all you need is a few points, have you considered renting/transfering the points? It would save the ongoing cost of buying more points, unless you think you will need the extra points every year...

3 weeks ago our guide told us that she had some VWL points for us. They would be $84 a point, and there was no Magical Beginnings for them. 50 is what you need to buy to finance through Disney.

Also, 25 you have to do in cash/credit card, 50 you can finance through Disney. Good luck!

I just talked to my guide today, and there are OKW points available for March and August use years only. You must purchase at least 25 points, and you can finance with Disney with a purchase of 50 points or more. Interest rates are 10.75% with 10 % down, 9.75% with 20% down, and you can stretch it out to 10 years, if you want. The points are $84 a point and that is already with Magical Beginnings, since the actual cost is $94($95?). I am FINALLY buying OKW points 51 points is enough to get a grande villa for 3 nights every three years! Hooray! Once this is paid off, I will buy another 51 points, and so forth until I have enough points for a week. It's slow, but at least I won't break the bank doing that! I am SO excited!

If I currently have points at VWL and I buy 25 points at OKW, does that mean I can book at either resort at 11 months out? Even if my stay for OKW will use more than 25 points?

renda460, no you can only use OKW points to book 11 months out at OKW. You can use points that you have banked and borrowed, but you would be limited to your OKW points, 75 possible with banking and borrowing.

Thanks for the info. I wonder if it would be a better choice to buy additional points at a different home resort, or my own. I guess it depends if I plan on taking trips that will require a lot of points at once. If so, I may end up causing myself to not be able to book at the 11 month window for either of my resorts.

Thanks to all for the information. My guide finally called me Friday evening, reporting that there were currently no December points available anywhere but SSR. I am on the fence about whether to hold out for 25 points at one of the sold-out resorts, or to just rent the points for our October stay. And for the record, using the points has never been an issue---I stay in a constant state of borrowing! However, I do plan to stop offering the points to friends and family for a while, so maybe I can swing a trip for my family in 2005!

Oh, I do have one more question---I was under the impression the waitlist for sold-out points was done away with, and you simply called daily to get an update of current points available. Has this changed again? I don't want to bother my guide again unneccessarily. Thanks!

It's my understanding that the list is gone and you have to call daily, or look into buying resale.

As far as I know, the wait list is gone, but you do not need to call daily. I just called my guide, told her what I wanted and she checked for me. She then called me when she found them. Good luck to you!
