I just went to the Universal site to purchase 5 of the "$85" tickets. The total is $463.20 after some fees and tax. This actually breaks down to $92.64 per ticket ($7.64 per ticket in fees and taxes per ticket). This is purchasing through Universal website and using electronic pickup (no fee for the pickup). Does this sound right to everyone? I thought I had read of folks getting the actual ticket for $85 (no fees or taxes?) and having the ticket in-hand when they went to the park. Was this through a full-service AAA office?

Also, if we do purchase through the UO website, has anyone picked up electronically? Are there long lines at the kiosks? Do you actually get tickets or do you still have to go to the customer service window and exchange for a "real" ticket, such as we would if we chose to print at home?

Thanks!

Ok, I did a search of the threads (that actually worked) and I found that several people did get their tickets through AAA without paying the extra fees and taxes and walked out with tickets in hand. I also found information regarding the will call or print at home. Guess I should have searched before I posted! SORRY!!!

We purchased ours through Dreams Unlimited (they're linked at the top of the page) and they were mailed to us, the only extra we paid was the 6% FL tax.

Edit: Just saw they are no longer linked on the Universal page.

I just called our local AAA office and they aren't full service  So I called the closest full service office, which is about 65 miles from us and they said they wouldn't mail the tickets. I got into how I paid the same premium as our friends up north, as in Chicago, and they have all kinds of full service offices available and if we can't get the same service we shouldn't pay the same premiums, etc, etc etc. So, they were going to find out about a staff person bringing what I need to my local office and us picking them up from there. No fees, no taxes. Gosh. . . they were certainly interested in acting as our travel agents when they found out about our plans even though we don't have a full service office in our area. Wonder how that would work. . . . :rolleyes1

I went to our local office and paid $85 flat. This in in NJ - don't know if that matters.
The rep said that they would probably have these tickets all year around

I think they are a flat $85 from the AAA office here. . . except I live in a very small bedroom community (a village actually) outside a larger city (capital of this state). There is a AAA office there, but it is not FULL service aka they only sell insurance. So, the full service AAA office I contacted this morning (65 miles from our home) was supposed to get back to me today because I asked that they get the tickets to the office here. So far, no phone call.

They did say, when I spoke with them this morning, that they had no idea how long these particular tickets would be available, and actually, no one does. They also said they only got them like April 21st or something. I know they've been available much longer than that. I guess everything takes a while to trickle to smalltown usa.

The "local" AAA office had them for $85 flat, but wouldn't mail them. We had to pick them up in person. We could have ordered them from the AAA Northern New England website, but would have had to pay shipping. Since we were going to the city anyway we picked them up. The office is about an hour away.

Here's the good news. The full service AAA office which is about 65 miles from our home has agreed to hand carry the tickets we need to our local insurance only office, which is only about 15 minutes away. :thumbsup2 They, as in the full service office, are working on getting room prices for next April at both HRH and PBH since I can't seem to find them. They wanted to sell me a package, but couldn't come up with one that included the $85 tickets. I am still wondering how they are going to act as my travel agent when I'm clearly not driving 65 miles to save $40, nor am I driving 65 miles to sign any papers (ok, ok, I might if the rate they can get and the terms they can give me are awesome).

Anyone have any experience with AAA as your travel agency?? I haven't used travel agencies in years and years. I like to research, plan and book my own trips (cuz I'm a control freak).

I went to AAA to book my very first family WDW trip - they wanted $8,000 - i researched these boards (like crazy!) and booked it myself for under $4,000!!! The DIS is da bomb!!!!:thumbsup2

You are better off doing it yourself. JMHO.
