After many weeks of careful planning and driving myself crazy
I ended up throwing it all away except for a few things. First, our flight got in pretty late later than planned. We didnt get to the POR resort until 2:30 am on Wednesday night/Thursday morning! Throw out the Ridemax plan for the next day which started at 9:30
Since we were going to be there for only 2 days we did not get park hoppers. We had ADRs in DHS at SciFi well, that was the day for the AIE press event where 25 or so American Idols were to parade down the street at 4:30. NOT in the original plan but because of the ADRs and other decisions, we had to go to DHS that day. We get to the park by 11:00. Go to grab a FP for TSM but they were all sold out. So, we stood in line for an hour.
Actually, I enjoyed the queue much more than the queue at CA. Snapped a few pics and found a hidden Mickey!
After that, we grabbed a FP for RNR and also stood in line for 30 min to ride. We then went to TOT NO WAIT! Mostly because the line splits and no one was going to the left. We went to the left and basically walked on. DH was worried about going left but I made him follow. After TOT, we went to M3D (found the key)
and saw the new street show Mulch, Sweat, and Shears.
Now it was close to our ADRs so we went right there. After lunch really fun by the way and on Star Tours again no wait! Keep in mind, it was about 3:30 at that point and everyone was lining up to see the parade. It was time for our RNR FP return so we made our way over to the other side of the park. Not an easy task since they had the main road blocked off for the parade and there were only a couple of cross walks. We made it to RNR (stand by was now 70 min) and got through quickly. We wanted to see IJSS at 4:15 so we had to book it across the park again but got held up at the cross walk. We barely made it inside for the show but missed the opportunity to be picked to be in the show. Oh well, at least we got there and there was room. After the stunt show, we headed out again, not easy since the parade was now happening and the exit route was PACKED. The park was closing at 6:00 anyway. Gave us time to go to the pool (it was in the 80s that day) and grab a nice dinner in DTD.
Day 2 Friday. Everyone was beat from only 6 hours sleep the night before so we took our time getting to MK. Again throw Ridemax plan out since that started at 9:30 too and we didnt get there until 10:45.
We had checked out that day so we drove to the park in the rental car. We didnt have to pay for parking because we were a resort guest. I couldnt believe how close we parked we were able to walk to TTC. We were able to quickly get on the monorail and get right to the park. First thing I wanted to do was find the party-line phone and have my DD listen. We found it pretty easily.
As we were walking up Main St. the Celebrate It parade was making its way down the street. We stopped to watch it. We loved it! DD (9) really got into the song and was dancing right along. She loved that the performers came over to her and waved at her. Made her feel special.
After the parade, we headed to Tomorrowland. We went on SM, COP, and BLY. We jumped over to Fantasyland and went on the Teacups (a must do for me every trip), Carousel, Philharmagic, and IASW. While DD and I were on the Teacups, I sent DH to get Splash FPs. After Fantasyland, we went on HM (30 min wait) then on to Frontierland. BTMRR was too long of a wait, so we skipped it and went on Splash. Went to Adventureland and went on POTC. Then I got my Dole Whip! I almost couldnt find the place so I asked a CM. Could you believe he said Whats a Dole Whip? Holy Cow! A CM in Adventureland didnt know what it was???? Luckily, there was another CM next to him and he told me where to find them. Then he explained a Dole Whip to the other CM. After we made our way around the lands, we walked down Main St into the shops. While in the last shop, I heard the Flag Retreat ceremony. It was very nicely done. I dont think I had ever seen that before. The Celebrate It parade came by the other way (Up Main St. this time). By now, it was about 5:45. We decided to go to Tonys for dinner with hopes of getting an outside table to be able to watch Spectromagic at 7:00. We got our wish. We waited about 15 minutes and got a table right at the railing and could see the parade perfect. I just wish they had dimmed the lights at the restaurant. DD and I headed to the hat shop while DH paid. He finds us over at the hat shop and tells us to go back to the lobby of the restaurant. When we did, we saw Jason Castro from American Idol. DD loved him last season so we asked for a picture with him. She was beside herself and was very happy when he said yes.
After that, we watched the fireworks from the train station. I really liked that location. If we had gotten there a little earlier, we may have gotten a seat but it wasnt bad standing. I was able to get some great pictures.
After the fireworks, we left even though the park was open another hour. Since we had to get back to the TTC, we were going to take the monorail. We went out the wrong exit and could not get back to the monorail entrance. A VERY nice CM told us that the Resort Monorail would take us to TTC after 1 stop at the Contemporary. What luck! We got right on. The line for the other monorail was quite long so we really lucked out. When we got to the TTC, we were able to walk right to our car without waiting for the tram and didnt hit any traffic leaving the lot. I dont think Ive ever had such a smooth and quick exit before. We were really hitting the right timing with everything and all this without a plan! I think Ive learned my lesson
Luckily, no one got sick with that awful virus - but I heard a lot of people talking about their kids being sick or seeing others being sick in the bushes.
At least I got my Disney fix - should last me a little while anyway.
